re: OT lawyers: Unique trespassing issue
Posted by Irreverent Reverend on 2/11/19 at 10:31 am to BRich
To be clear: the neighbor who's trespassing on my 3 foot section to access their property already has their own driveway accessing a public highway that they used to use until the last year or so when they started using my 3 foot strip of property to DRIVE THROUGH THEIR YARD to access their driveway .
They already have access to a public highway and don't need to drive/walk over my 3 foot section. They have a complete different address.
Also, to those saying it was stupid to subdivide the property this way, know that this was done LOOOONG before I moved here.
I agree that it's stupid but I certainly am not willing to give up that property via donation. I'd sell it to them if they were willing to purchase it though.
And yes, I have a survey indicating it's my property.

OT lawyers: Unique trespassing issue

I'll try to keep this quick.
My home, years ago, was the only home down my street on family property. Matriarch and patriarch died, family wanted to start selling. Property was subdivided and the private driveway servicing my house was extended to the end of all the subdivided properties and converted to a public roadway.
Therefore, I own about 3 feet on the other side of the roadway.
Weird old lady on the property adjacent to this 3 foot strip and her 30-something year old meth head daughter like to drive down my road and actually drive over my 3 feet and THROUGH their yard to their home and then park. They're quite weird and honestly I could see the old lady's sons pulling a gun on me if I ever go talk to them to ask them to stop.
This creates a low worn spot on my 3 feet. I cut that strip of my property when I cut grass so this bothers me.
More than anything, though, is my concern for legal issues in the future. They also walk across it too. If they ever drive over my 3 foot strip or walk over it and injure themselves or bottom out in their car, damaging it, could they come back and file suit against me since it's my property?
It would be quite ridiculous to put up a fence there since it's so close to the roadway. Also, it's part of the electric company and parish's servitude to be able to service the power lines and road so it's not only ridiculous to put up a fence but probably not legal.
What are my options?

This is the perfect response to the question of whether or not homosexuality is a sin. We know homosexuality goes back thousands of years so it's certainly nothing new, just more accepted and in the open now. I certainly respect all people regardless of who they choose to love or who they just fall in love with. I personally don't care if it's a choice or not. Love who you love and live your life.
Life is too short to worry about men who love other men or women who love other women. Society's problem, in my opinion, rests with the fact that we make homosexuality mostly a political and religious issue as opposed to just a human aspect.

Correct. If the girl is into that then so what. I don't blast those who vote another way or who drive a different vehicle than me.

In the darkness of your thoughts and self-justification. Face to face staring into the mirror of God.
Completely agree. It's something you must come to on your own terms and at your own pace. But once you arrive at the land of believers, you will never go back. You'll never miss the emptiness you didn't know you had until you believe.

The worldwide seismic event and now the UFO over Houston is all because those heathens came out in full force in my "when did you believe in God" thread. Serves them right.

Anyone growing up in the 80's and 90's who doesn't claim Kelly Kapowski is just lying (which is a sin, by the way). She was the GOAT.

re: What was your moment where you were convinced there’s a god?
Posted by Irreverent Reverend on 11/28/18 at 10:24 pm to mmmmmbeeer
To question the existence of a god is human. We’re not perfect and have all been taught to question authority, to be skeptical. For me personally it’s about having faith more than anything. Faith that there is something greater, something bigger than man. Something else.
There have been multiple moments throughout my life that made me believe. I don’t know what moments the future holds so I can’t say that this particular moment is the end all be all moment for ME, but up to this point, that was the most convincing. In that moment, my son needed relief and he got it.

I know not everyone believes and I’m not trying to convert those who do not. I just wanted to share my own story. It seems as though every believer has their own personal moment when they knew without a doubt.
I thought I had moments in the past that qualified but this one takes the cake. Last night my toddler son was up all night long with 100 degree fever and throwing up 7 times. Poor man was miserable, sweating, and shivering. In addition, he couldn’t breathe due to being so stuffy in the head. He couldn’t sit still and cried for hours while my wife and I took turns holding him in bed.
Any parent reading this knows the helplessness and hurt one feels when their child is suffering. I had to fight back tears of my own over how bad he was feeling.
After about three hours of crying he sort of fell asleep but was snoring from all the congestion and he mixed in some crying whimpers every few seconds. As I laid there listening to him I said a prayer. Not a generic prayer that’s written in books and on pamphlets stored in purses. I’m talking about a real, heartfelt request to God. I asked him to relieve my son of his sickness and give it to me so that I could suffer instead. No catch, no “if/then” propositions — just a genuine request from a hurting dad.
No sooner than I finished my simple prayer, his snoring stopped and I heard his breaths go in and out of his nose freely, he settled down, stopped crying, and his breathing got into a rhythm and he fell asleep. I immediately smiled and tears filled my eyes. It was the first time in my life I said a prayer that was answered right away. He woke up a couple hours later without a fever and with more energy than ever before.
Now I lay in bed tonight not feeling good at all and it looks like I’m coming down with something. I just had to share with everyone since I know there are some here who will appreciate my story.

Which is sad, nobody wants to hurt a kid but everybody wants to go home.
Very well said. I would never want to hurt anyone but at the end of the day I've got a wife and kids to be here for and if it's ever a me-or-them situation, I'm going to try my hardest to make it them.

It seems like a silly question but I hear differing opinions all the time. I used to live in a nice subdivision until thieves started prowling around at night. I would go to bed each night with my carport light on, thinking they would avoid me since they don't want to be seen. Well one night they got into my cars and shed but the first thing they did was turn off my light from the outside switch.
I hear from some people who swear the light attracts them because it's easier for them to see and they don't run the risk of attracting attention via a flashlight.
I recently caught some prowlers in my yard on one of my security cameras. They didn't do anything, just walked on by but they had no business being on my property at that time of night. I couldn't make out their face since I don't have a light on that side of the house.
Should I buy and install some flood lights or keep the area dark? Does it even matter? I'm sure it's a waste of money either way.

This cannot be overstated. Ed Rust was amazing and knew how to run a leading insurance company but the new guy has no clue. The incompetence is trickling down to the new agencies as well. Just about anyone can become a State Farm agent nowadays and that's scary. The agency business model within the insurance industry, in my opinion, is a scam that customers pay for. It's outdated and really no need for an agent as long as you have half a brain.
