re: Does anyone here actually thing Chad will be able to turn this around

In meantime you may question ole gotnaren's suggestion in the search for a HC. He recommended Les Miles, Norvell, S. Holtz. Any of the three would never lose to N. Texas State 'for crying out loud'. One of the three has National Champion credentials. Oh well, "we'll get em next year".
Auburn will lose

Gus value to Auburn takes a dip losing the SEC Championship in my thoughts.
That is good for Arkansas. I believe he will board a flight to Fayetteville soon. I hope so anyway.

I have prayed for you and yours...
Thanks. I have been sober for 23 years asking Jesus into my heart. It was a late life conversion after losing countless jobs, a marriage & family I am so ashamed. I still have temptations believe it or not and those prayers will take me into eternity sober where my soul shall see the one who saved me and my divorced wife who has already passed.

Kinda what I thought all along. I must preach to the preacher on this matter I am sadly an expert. For you see hangovers are drink to the excess. Clearly sinful and bad witness to flock, family, & strangers.
Even the confused Church of Christ folk know that, Bro.
Scolding Gus is like the pot calling the kettle black for you sir. Good News, however. Just repent asking for HIS forgiveness and he will. I know that much better than I know the X and O of football, Rev.

My take of the matter about as valuable as a cup of coffee or less.
I tend to think Gus Malzahn is secretly negotiating holding off the acting AD's offer awaiting results of GA game. Therein, Auburn will ante up his current contract with a sizeable gain should Auburn win.
The offer by AR will then be reevaluated by Gus and he will arrive soon for recruiting OR he will stay to participate in a Bowl with AR holding the bag.
Coaching is a business and business is business ... ya know!
Question: Is it highly productive for a fledgling NCAA sports program to have great influence in hiring a Head coach? Just asking?
Tennessee may never get their program back to National Champion contenders? What GOOD coach in his right mind would accept the job being 4 or 5th selection? Just asking?
I remember when Ole Miss was once the power house of college football. (Johnny Vaught) Their rabid fans were hated by AR even though we were in the SWC. So, did others in the football world. Take a look at their fans influence of hiring / firing since to find them in a position I doubt they will ever be a National Champion again. Just asking?
Others with a little research. Just asking?

Tsk Tsk Rev., you know better. It's a good thing for you to insert PART OF and not author of.
As you recall, Cam Newton and ? Dryer (LR Central) were players for Gene Chizik (sp) NOT Gus.
Granted Gus granted Dryer great favors for his shortfalls. This young man was an attempt to salvage his lost soul from a childhood of synthetic drugs his prostitute mother taught him to mfg. He easily aligned himself with thugs like that of his deprived youth in LR. You know the story of guns, speeding arrest, and such. Gus whom I admire for his interest in this superb athlete's soul and citizenship tried his best to help in various avenues.
As for Cam, we both know as the sports nation know Auburn was not found in fault of an extensive investigation that stemmed from his father's request to MSU of 6 figures payment. Auburn got him under Gene Chicaik and NOT Gus. Even at that Gene was not found guilty of that heavily and extensively investigated but HIGHLY speculated as perhaps you've done.
I do not know Gus. I understand from another board of your postings that you do. So, I concede you knowing much more of him of dislike than I. However, the portion you've alleged is not exactly accurate ya know.
Gus may well be a spiritual hypocrite and certainly a great distaste to a 'man in cloth' but to task he is assigned has no measure for the soul or it's destiny. Get my drift?
You're a good man in love with the Hogs. I am too. BUT, we differ in the analogy of what it takes to make he U Of A football competitive in the SEC.

I guess I could and should omit that harsh statement. However, he knew and TN folk knew, as I know he did not walk home after wrecking his automobile to save money on a cab ride. Hello?

I gotta hand to you, Rev. You have the ability to research and think out of the box with good football knowledge.
However, the hiring of Lane Kiffen (IMO) will be a tragic mistake for U of A football.
Why? He left 'Tenner' after only 14 months. I know there is a reason he walked home after his auto accident versus staying near waiting for towing assistance.
Why? He was fired at LAX who denied him a ride back to campus on bus with his bags. Not a class act for USC but he was not such a class act either coaching the Trojans. IMO
Why? His recruiting tactics are questionable in a court of law. Where the case was dismissed BUT not on grounds the charges were untrue. To lure a 4 star athlete he promised the staris good and close friend a job he renigged on after the signing and persuasion of the Plaintiff. Supposedly because the Plaintiff had 2 misdemeanor infractions to his record Kiffen did not know about. In short, not a man of his word.
Why? There is much more to this young coach's ambitions and limitations than meets the eye. He is best to be an assistant and not a leader in my opinion.
Sorry to say but I know well Lane's type of personality. (I believe to apologize if wrong) but he is suspected with a major flaw I had for many years with alcohol. He must be vetted extensively in that aspect.

Respectfully, Reverend it is not odd at all. There are a lot of good and respectful coaches who are not believers at all. Coach Bryant was such a person I never knew to attend church who smoked, and drank Black label Jack Daniels using curse words to make a sailor blush.
He was not hired to teach Sunday School but to teach football as a sport honoring clean, honor, sportsmanship in the field of play.
I know there is hypocrisy but that is among fans much more prevalent than in coaching staffs from my experience.
In My RESPECTFUL Opinion, FATHER.

If Gus wins again playing GA, he will secure his job for another 3 yrs with an improved contract. He is smart to insinuate his desire to coach AR where he has zero intentions at all. Merely a ploy to secure a better contract which, I BELIEVE HE DESERVES.
He is truly a class act in bringing his team from the doldrums of early season losses to a National Champion caliber of team.
SALUTE! Goes to Gus Malzahn this day. I only wish H. Nutt had exhibited more trust in this coaching genius.

why in blue blazes....
Number one: A national champion experience as HC and Assist. IN THE SEC.
Number two: An excellent recruiter familiar with ALL HS coaches in the state of LA.
Number three: Has a good eye for hiring quality assist coaches. (John Chavis, etc.)
COMMENT: winning in the SEC is MUCH MORE credit to a candidate than a win / loss record at the likes of Wisconsin, citadel, or Memphis state ya know.
I do like the coach at Memphis State as you. He has great potential and in fact has proven to be a winner in a lower bracket of competition he will face in the SEC. Still yet he is young and I placed him 2nd. NOT because he is a good guy for I agree with Leo Durocher of baseball legend, "good guys finish last"!
I know there are more coaches out there than Skip Holtz. However, I also know he plays quality competition with a winning percentage against colleges who recruit nation wide. His roster are largely of those with homes and high schools within 100 miles of Ruston. He is truly a good coach.
Now, as for as records. Typically a coach whomever it may be falls into the performance of their college tradition. A lot of good coaches find their way through Vanderbilt and Kentucky for example. Sadly, AR has found their way into the same arena as those two and others with a tradition less than winning.
NOT degrading my Hogs but a fact easily researched.
My sermon for today, Rev.
