Yes but what I’m saying is there is negligible sellable product from a carbon capture plant other than the tax credits. So once the tax credits dry open, all you are doing is paying OPEX.
Maybe I’m missing something very basic.

But even with the current admin, the IRA tax credit is only valid for the first 10 or 12 years of your project. After that, the bottom falls out on the economic justification of these projects. Idk how anyone is making these investments

Multiply 3,000,000 per year times $85 and that is the potential federal tax credit for this project. Crescent Midstream will be the CO2 pipeline operator and will get about 20-30% of that (depending on how well they negotiate) and the emitter (like Entergy) will get the rest.
You’re correct, $255MM/yr is the potential tax credit. However, the operating cost for CCS is very high and would eat into that $255MM.
I’d expect a project like this to have a 10 yr payback period which I don’t understand how investors are accepting such slow returns.

I did not know this, thanks for sharing.
What did I say in my post that was wrong?

In general, recycling plastic is not economical and doesn’t lower the CO2 footprint of that particular plastic. The main benefit is that it reduces landfill waste or waste that ends up in the environment.
For a high quality recycled plastic, there are two main routes that I’m aware of:
1. The plastic needs to be de-polymerized back to its basic monomers, purified, then re-polymerized.
2. The plastic goes through a pyrolysis process to convert it to an oil that would get refined into fuel or back to plastics.
Both of these processes would require significant amounts of energy and result in a larger carbon footprint. The cost of production is generally higher than plastics production from fossil fuels also.
You can recycle plastics by more mechanical methods like grinding or melting, but the recycled product is a crap quality with limited applications.
Now if you powered Option 1 or Option 2 above with nuclear power or renewable energy, you could make it a lower carbon footprint than current plastic production processes. But it would still probably be more expensive.
This is coming from a ChemE who did some techno-economic work investigating recycling options for nylon 66.

Would y’all say now is a risky time to switch jobs to O&G where the risk is recession and layoff due to low seniority vs more security at current job due to higher seniority?

CCUS requires energy. Lots of it. But if you power it with low carbon energy (ie nuclear) then there is opportunity to significantly reduces co2 emissions.
Aside from being stored underground, CO2 can be captured, reacted with hydrogen made by splitting water with electricity (from nuclear), then turned back into building block chemicals.

Isn’t that what CCS is doing?

Honest question, how is CCS not as advertised?

I’m interested in setting up some JBL Authentics series, JBL Bar 1300X, and some JBL XD-6 speakers for outside. Advice on how to do this? Or should I go with Sonos?
I’m leaning to JBL because I’ve seen reviews that the JBL Authentics 500 are better than the sonos 5, and the JBL soundbar is a good price right now.

Maybe a dumb question, but is the IRS limit per couple (married filing jointly) or per individual if we each have a 401k through work?
