My fondest memories of attending LSU football games in the late 50ies and into the 60ies was this perk for Louisiana coaches. Train ride from Shreveport to Baton Rouge, stay with my uncle that taught at LSU. That was special.

Living in Montana, we listen to every game (if possible) on the radio. Really enjoy the pace and Chris’s enthusiasm.

What part of Montana? We lived in Billings for eight years and loved it!

No problems in South Arkansas.

Montana State Billings has a nice stadium shared with a rookie league minor league team. It has a beautiful view of the "rims."
Report on the Arkansas Youth Hunt.

My grandaughter took a big bodied 6 point this afternoon. Thanks to all the contributions to my initial question about Win 270 options. Y'all have provided multiple positive ideas.

Happy New Year!

I taught at SAU for 14 years. We lived on Greene St and our house burnt four years ago. We moved to Lake Erling with my retirement. And, yes, I've had a few hunts in the Village area but mostly Falcon Bottoms. Now we hunt on properties around the lake.

She has shoot three deer with the Federal Fusion load. The doe dropped. The two bucks ran off - 30 to 50 yards. I believe there's a lot of energy exiting the deer with this load. When I reloaded, I used Nosler Balistic Tips. Seldom did I have a deer take a step. The load seemed to be just about optimum with devastating energy transfer and an exit wound for tracking.

I caught 16 this morning before 10. Someone has to do it. I'll be taking the granddaughter to the woods in the morning for the Arkansas youth hunt.
Tigeronthehill, thank you. My grandaughter is 13 and as long as she ask to go, I'll take her. We're making the youth hunt in the morning.
Thank you SaintsFan.
Many years ago, I loaded some 100 or 110 gr bullets. My wife and I killed several deer with the load. The internal organs were liquefied with well placed shots to the chest cavity. My concern was that the bullet never reached the rib cage of the opposite side. With the Barn's bullet do do get pass through?
In November, I bought a rifle from Bass Pro in Bossier and I live in Arkansas. It took a little time to get the paperwork completed, but they were very experienced with the process. I'm sure Simmons is as well.
Very complete and thoughtful - thank you

Reload recommendations for Win 270?

Posted by Blanding on 1/2/25 at 10:36 pm
Happy New Year OB friends and colleagues!

I've retired and down sized. I live on a great crappie lake and the fall/winter fishing has been awesome. Part of the downsizing, I departed with all my reloading equipment.

I used to reload everything shot shells for expense and rifle for quality. I've been taking my granddaughter deer hunting and she's using my old Win 270. She's been shooting factor loads and I'm not impressived with the work on the business end. The rifle has a 20" barrel and groups Federal Fusion 130gr reasonably tight.

My question, is there a premium over the counter load any of you are particularly fond of, or is there a handload that is your go to favorite?

Thanks in advance for any information you are willing to share.

This post is a classic example of facts vs. hyperbole. You presented the facts concerning the players current classification status where an individual could formulate an informed decision. The counter argument is "don't bore me with the facts" or "the empty barrel rattles the loudest."

There's always a nugget or a laugh buried within, sometimes you have to "sift" through some rhetoric to find the gem.
