re: First LSU game I attended

TP: forgot about the "pig pot".
FYI for those who weren't there, freshman orientation for the guys was run by the ROTC. On Thursday night, we were to go into Tiger Stadium & have a pep rally with the football team present.
Before we marched into the stadium the freshman companies opened ranks & the freshman girls marched in between the ranks & matched up with the boys. She was your "date" for the event & you had the responsibility to get her back to her dorm that night...it was a different time back then & we did what we were told.
The winner of the pig pot in my company eventually married his "date" & from the last I heard, they lived happily ever after.
Could talk about those days forever...next time we will tell you about the "Ole Miss" riots!

TP: I was a freshman in "63 also. Lived in old Graham. Mandatory ROTC. Nobody believes we wore PJ's & an LSU beanie to the first game.
Those were the days.....

Thank you G for the help to an honest question.

New LSU guy at Advocate

Sorry if I missed it, but who did this guy replace?
I know it's fun to play "what if", especially after this past season, but I keep going back to something Jay talked about towards the end of last season - that the portal is good at times, but he wanted to develop his own players going forward.
I wonder if he is going to make Ruckert & Patrick or one of the incoming freshman lose second or center field before he plugs one of the portal guys there.
Frankly, I keep checking the sites for more pitching. I read the articles where the staff expects improvement via the current guys being one year older, but I don't think that they are finished with plugging one more weekend type guy. They need one more guy who can get them 18 to 20 outs on a weekend to save the bullpen.

Any interest in the Tyson LeBlanc kid from LSU-E who played for Kansas?
My take may be "dumb" to you about only a couple of champ's...but I like the percentages...40% of his years CJJ wins in Omaha.
Even the GOAT didn't match those numbers.
On a side note, I can't understand why readers of this site has to act like ^%$# & call people names if they disagree with their openion.

Tig...here are some more numbers...5 years...2 national champs.
Questions?

Seems to me that I heard CJJ take responsibility...he said that he should have kept some of the guys who left & that they missed badly on some of the guys they brought in & he made his point about men's baseball cut on the NIL pie.
I also seem to remember that he & that staff was pretty busy in the summer of '25 when the portal opened up...oh yea...they was winning us number 8.
I join the krewe who hates what has happened this year, but I believe we are having a joy ride compared to what CJJ is having. I learned a long time ago that when someone with ability takes it on the chin & accepts responsibility, good thing usually follow.
I think we will be OK.
Hey Nuxall...say it after me...2 National Championships...say it again...TWO NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS!!!!

Good bye...hope you enjoy cheering for the Greenies...

re: So how does Jay fix it?

"How does Jay fix it?"

If you listened to his comments, I don't think the portal is the answer. He may cherry pick one or two, but I think he is looking to the HS kids. Costello, Ryan, Larson were here are are doing well elsewhere. He will spend his $$ on HS kids who will listen to him, not upperclass kids listening to their agents. Anyt way I'll put my money on Jay to fix it & fix it PDQ.
Nick, do you pay attention to all the between the lines reporting & site comments re the relationship of Maineiri & Jay or Maineiri & LSU or what happened with Maineiri & USCe or Maineiri & the core LSU baseball fans?

Rouge...you are too dumb to be in the gene pool.

Sober up before you post next time.

Old guy (me): LSU is a brand, wear "the" uniform. Their are only a few that comes to mind besides us...Alabama, Texas, Penn State. Wear the damn uniform.

Now i understand the players like to change up & it sure looks like Lane likes alternate uniforms.

Bottom line, I don't care if they wear "pinks & greens", as long as they win!

Back in the '90's, I made the trip to the purple pants game. Great trip. Ugly uniforms. Keenland, the Bourbon Trail. I agree with the guys who are telling you to get off the beaten path around the horse farms. Beautiful. People were nice, but parking was PIA.
Enjoy.
"...what baseball is at 99.8% of schools..."

but that .02% are all in the SEC!

re: Football game dress

Started LSU in '63.
Yes, except for the freshman ROTC game when we wore pajamas, we dressed in coat & tie.
Go look at the Billy Cannon punt return...look at the guy who runs out of the stands & down the sidelines...how is he dressed?
