Many of the current drivers on the grid started karting when they were around 4, moved all over Europe to pursue, and with each move up in ranks costing more and more. The day of some off the street random making into F1 are probably long gone. I think Formula 4 is something like $500k per season, Formula 3 over $1 million, and Formula 2 like $3 million. Most of the kids in the lower formulas are kids of millionaires/billionaires.

Reminds me of one of my first "Oh shite this second kid is different from the first kid" moments.
When my little girl would start to squirm/make noise/act up in church a light pinch on the thigh would get her attention and quiet her down. Then my little boy came around, and the first time I deployed that tactic he let out a loud "WHY DID YOU PINCH ME!?!?!" and people 10 rows up laughed. Now if he gives up too much trouble he gets taken to the cry room

Same here, but the last couple of times out we'd had issues with vermillions stealing bait before we could get past them for red snapper, last time out I setup a chicken rig with some smaller hooks and was bringing them up every single drop, sometimes 2-3 at a time.

So ummm, the B stands for Balbeisi, Nidal and Eazy are brothers. I believe it was rumored Nidal bought E out of all his stake in their restaurants(Zeus & Agave) when E had some legal troubles some years back. When that terrorist was arrested in Lafayette who'd taken place in the October 7th attacks rumor was he was working at one of their restaurants at the time. Nidal's wife was all up in any comments threatening to sue anyone who'd mentioned their name as being involved.

Coco always gets me.
Coco hit me hard. I first watched it when my little girl was around 3 and sitting on my lap.
I grew up with 2 very different sets of grandparents, one set who loved us dearly, would give you the shirt off their backs, but sadly passed long before my wife and kids were around. The other set we saw maybe once a year at Christmas, were always cold and distant and never felt loving towards us at all. That grandmother never met my kids, and the first time my grandfather met them was at my grandmother's funeral, my kids were 2 and 4 at the time. I would often tell my wife how much my other grandparents would've loved her, and our children, but sadly were never given the opportunity.
I watched Coco with my daughter not knowing anything about it, and it managed to bring up all those feelings and I cried like a baby. I've tried watching it a few more time since then and can't do it.

Similar deal here, we bought a boat that was Coast Guard documented, LDWF won’t register it until the USCG part is done, which took ~8 months to get done. Mailed off the paperwork for registration and keep following up. As of last week they’re processing mail-ins that were submitted about a month before ours. We’re closing in on having the boat almost a year and it’s still not fully registered.
re: Homeowner’s Association Stories
Posted by YOURADHERE on 5/27/26 at 8:27 am to UFFan
We don't have one but I wish we did, when we closed we were made to sign papers/rules as if there was an HOA, when asked about fees was told there was none. Turned out the HOA was dissolved years ago so the paperwork we signed was useless.
For the most part it's fine, but there's a few houses that just have a lack of pride of ownership. People parking on their front lawn, rarely cutting the grass or weeding their landscape. I don't give a damn about the lady that painted her garage & front door fire engine red, or the guy who painted his mailbox Midas gold, but the other unkept places really look like shite.
Additionally, the hood is on a standalone sewer system, apparently a deal was reached with the city where the HOA would cover half, and the city would cover the other, and allow us to tie into city sewer, and do away with the standalone system. The HOA was dissolved a few months short of reaching their goal, so the system stays.
The HOA was using fees to pay a lawn service to cut/maintain the front entrances, now its done by random homeowners since there's no fees collected. One homeowner was collecting fees but only about 20 of us was contributing out of ~240 homes.
There's nightmares, but the certainly can serve a purpose.
Hell I don't even care if you want to rent your house, as long as you screen your tenants, there's ~10 rentals and all are fine with the exception of one guy, who will take the very first applicant that applies. The first tenants put the lease in the grandma's name, was selling weed out of the house, and eventually had SWAT show up at 2am to scoop him up. The next tenant in the house ran a construction outfit. If he didn't need his excavator that day he'd unload it in the front yard and leave it there for weeks. He bought a school bus and parked it on the front yard and left it there for 2 months before the city got involved. The current tenant seems ok so far.
ETA: Our next home will be 50+ acres so I don't have to deal with any of this shite

Anyone go? We launched late and headed out around 1. Ended up with 6-7 red snapper and 20-25 beeliners before the weather spooked us back in.

Saturday’s forecast seems to be getting better according to Windfinder, looks to be ~2’ or less. If that holds we’re likely going out of Grand Isle.
re: Do you rent vehicles when traveling for vacation?

Never rented but just wanted to say minivan is the way to go, we just bought an Odyssey and there may be no better vehicle for traveling than a minivan. Stick one, or both, car seats in the 3rd row, captains chairs for the 2nd row, plenty room for luggage even with the 3rd row up, better mileage than a big SUV too.

Man I will give them credit, the last couple of years they kept it open pretty late into the year. 2024 was open until mid-October I believe, and 2025 mid-November and I feel like towards they end they were pretty much begging people to go out and fish. Hopefully this is a tester to maybe move it to a 5 fish limit season long, and wrap it up after Labor Day.

AT&T fiber, I think it's $90/month. No complaints or rarely any issues. All the people in my neighborhood with Cox constantly have issues/outages.
We've also got Starlink at the camp and it too has been flawless. If you're in an area with little/no options Starlink is the way to go.

Ours apparently started on a bus meant to drive guest back to their hotels then spilled out and got worse. We were already gone and almost back to our hotel when a friend started blowing my phone up...
"hey man are we cool to get on this bus?"
"Yea, that's the bus to go back to the hotel."
"Is it still going to the hotel?"
"Yea....."
"Are you sure they're still going to take us?"
"Yea....."
"Ok if you say so"
I didn't learn until a few weeks later he thought my wife and I were on the bus, he'd witnessed the whole fight, and thought the bus driver was just going to NOPE out of all that and leave everyone at the venue. We too were on our honeymoon when we found out what had happened.

I read through this whole thread to see if anyone from the OT was at my wedding
After my wife and I left we had a pretty big fight break out.
For my brother's wedding one of the groomsman, who was a fairly close friend of his, drank too much before and started to puke on the alter, caught it in his hand, and slipped out the side, thankfully very few people noticed. He walked right out the door and was never seen or heard from again. No apologies, no contact, nothing. I held onto his bag of clothes/shoes/airpods/etc for about 2 months before throwing it all away. Never responded to text, phone calls, etc from any of us. To this day no one in the wedding party has seen or heard from him, that's been close to 3 years ago.

I was following him on instagram for a while and unfollowed him not too long ago. The short answer is “everything”. One day he was racing ATVs and SxS, next he was doing snowmobiles, one day he was a triathlete, pretty sure he’s done some rally stuff, pretty sure he’s dabbled in being a DJ and a fitness influencer  The guy is all over the place.
re: Meat Grinder Recommendations
Posted by YOURADHERE on 5/18/26 at 11:35 am to Powerman
I know a few people who bought the MEAT! 500w grinder and have been quite happy, those run around $150ish or so. I used to use my Kitchenaid mixer/grinder to grind up briskets when they went on sale but it was a slow process.
I started processing my own venison and making sausage so I bought a Meat! 1hp with the foot pedal during their Black Friday sale and have been quite impressed with it. Something like that is definitely overkill for just a few pounds though.

Grand Isle gets a ton of shite but I absolutely love the place and so do my wife and kids, though maybe I'm a bit trashy. Is it Destin? Hell no, but we always have a damn good time. Fishing, beach cruises on the SxS, running crab lines with the kids, dinner and some tunes and a bushwhacker or 3 at Grand Isle Marina, checkin out the questionable characters on the fishing pier, looking at all the big boats at Hurricane Hole, etc.
