re: Power Plant at ORCS Will cripple Mississippi River eventually

Really good book. I read it about 20 yrs ago. I need to read it again. I learned a lot about Eads. Dude was fearless walking the River bottom under an iron bell. We wonder why the La coast is disappearing when all that silt is sent out into the Gulf. I haven't read up on it lately, but last I did, the River is getting harder to contain at the Morganza Spillway. Nature will eventually have its way.

Then they speed up to box you in, if they see you coming up in the right lane

There was TG&Y in the old Broadmoor shopping center next to Eckerds. There's a gym there now. Good memories.

Still driving my V8 2006 Tundra. Great truck. Even the guys at the Toyota shop are telling me to hang on to it. Haven't had anything besides maintenance, ie oil changes, Timing belt, etc.

I caught a pass from him as a kid at a Steve Stonebreaker football camp in Covington at the St Paul's School when I was about 7 yrs old. As soon as I turned around in stride, the football hit me dead center in the chest and nearly knocked me off my feet. He threw a bullet with perfect timing. Hurt like hell, but I didnt dare say anything. That night I pulled my shirt off and had a third tit square center chest. Took forever for that cherry to go away. I cherish that memory as a kid. Got to meet Jimmy Taylor too. Good times.

re: John Thune is NOT CONSIDERING the SAVE America Act passing into law anymore

Yes, but the choice is still their's. Obviously, most of them get siderailed either by greed with insider trading, kickbacks from foreign influencers, extortion because of their own perversion, etc. Basically, any motive besides representing their constituents. Thune has skillfully delayed and dodged passing the Save America Act despite over 80% of the people want the Act to be passed. Election integrity is crucial to a Democratic Republic. Our Republic is only as stable as the people who serve it are virtuous and have some measure of integrity. Most of our Congress is comprised of conniving, money laundering, perverts.

Im not worried about China, Russia, and even Iran. It's our Congress who backstabs the American people. They ARE enemy No 1.

re: Do you think tithing (10%) to the church is a Biblical requirement?
Posted by 87PurpleandGold on 4/10/26 at 4:52 pm to Harry Rex Vonner
No. The Tithe was something you ate. And ,yes, they had money then. Malachi was written to the Levitical priesthood, not gentiles. So that scripture was twisted so that modern, Protestant pastors could build huge seeker friendly franchise business empires. Instead, Paul said gives as the Lord leads you to give.

My .22 cal Benjamin Marauder works great. Neighbors were too close to safely use a .22. When I first moved to NWA, the squirrels were practically eating my deck and leaving marks all over it. Tried all kinds of things to deter them. The critters loved the stain I used one year. Restained it. Finally got me a Marauder, put a scope on it, sighted it in. I'm on 3 acres with a lot of trees so I had plenty of them. They finally stopped for the most part. But that first generation were downright destructive.

Things to do besides good food and sports. How about a paved bike path system for people who want to exercise besides the levee? The lakes have somewhat of a path, but they're either tore up now or in need of repaving. It would help keep bikers off the main roads. Speaking of roads, repaving them would go a long way instead of just filling potholes unevenly.

The roads in Panama are better than Baton Rouge. If they would actually fix the entire road instead of just filling potholes , it would be a much needed improvement.
