re: Euro mount recommendation

Yeah, it not hard. I just leave mine in a big tub of water until spring or whatever and then wash & bleach. They look better than the ones I've paid for.
If the base design allows for it you can roll it pretty easily using PVC pipe. Moved many deer stands this way. Moved a large playset from neighbors to my house using PVC, as well.
Didn't see a duck this morning but had a hunt we won't soon forget. We put 5 #4s in a boar hog. Only blood we found was on a decoy. Saw him running down the levee 20min later. Would have made an epic picture. Oh well, still had a great morning!

When my dad started taking me duck hunting in the 90s, I can honestly say I never remember them shooting a whole lot of ducks. What I do remember though, was loving everything about what we did out there and wanting to go back out there at every opportunity.

Same here

Now I see it in my youngest son. We hunted this morning and didn't fire a shot, at least at a duck. He did get 3 racoons and a Fox squirrel. Sat for an hour or so this afternoon on a creek just knowing he would at least get a shot at a wood duck. Nope, nada.

While putting him to bed we talk about what to do in the morning. Hunt or head back home. I was leaning towards the latter. He wants to go, so go we shall!

Why?

I think he is saying that COVID helped end that era... No more colorless colors.

I got 2 or 3 and they are still going strong! Wish I had the 110 on wheels, though.

This is tempting. Included 22lr and 22 wmr barrels. Takes Ruger 10/22 mags. Not an auto, though. Figured some folks here might be interested.

This one is also tempting. Semi-auto, 10/22
I looked at this grill I'm Academy tonight. Several of these on display, and a few other models and different brands.

This particular one seems a bit cheap in terms of quality and fit / finish. Could be that is was a display but I checked a few and all were similar. Just screamed low quality. Oh, and I don't believe it comes with BT/wireless. Rather, it is capable but you need to buy a part, board, or something. That is IF I recall correctly.

Higher priced pit boss seemed to be of better quality
In for reviews / recommendations. Been thinking about a pellet grill for a month or so. Really not sure where to start as there seems to be endless options.

I enjoyed Spyglass more, probably cause I played like arse at Pebble. Shot something like 74-85. But walking up 18 at Pebble was a thing of beauty.

I can only speak from my experience but Leuopld is leaps and bounds better than Vortex in clarity and glass quality

Same here. I have a viper and VX3 both in 50mm. The Leupold is much better in all aspects. More expensive, yes, but the two I have do not compare. Plus, I don't care for vortex reticles as I am a fan of simple duplex or alike. Vortex may those, too, not sure.

ANY friends that generous

Nor do I. My dad gave it to me. A while back we were talking and I mentioned wanting to buy a threaded bolt 22lr. I was looking at something along the lines of a Ruger American or alike. A guy he knows was selling off a bunch of higher end guns, so he got this for me. Not sure if he paid $3 or $3,000. Told him I didn't want to know.

I'll put it to use, regardless of value. The wood is gorgeous, though, and that first tiny imperfection is going to sting.

And thanks for the ammo advice.

I hear Eley is top notch but some of that runs upwards of .50/rd. I'm a sub 10 cent ammo kind of guy...haha

Your gun has legendary build quality and accuracy. It’s one of the finest .22 bolt guns made.

That's what I hear. Can't wait to shoot it. Trigger seems excellent. Topped with a Razor 1.5-8x32. Will soon be headed to the squirrel woods. Now I need can for it.

Anschutz 1712 anyone?

Posted by Goldensammy on 11/3/25 at 5:50 pm
Anyone have any experience with Anschutz model 1712, 22 lr?

I was gifted one and put hands on it today. Looking forward to shooting it.

I need to locate another mag, as it came with a single 5 round. Any recommendations here would be appreciated.

And Ammo, that's not $.45-.50/rd? Not necessarily looking to shoot long range. Though, I would like to stretch it at some point just for fun.

Buck down. 1 buck county, so that's a wrap for me. Hopefully my boys can get on a buck in the next couple of weeks.

6.5 manbun - rifle opener

OT 10 wife (no pics) and boys are out of town, so I've good 2 solid days of hunting

Good luck everyone
Whatever recipe you choose, cook to rare, med-rare at most.

One of my favorites is to pluck breast, cut out breast whole with skin attached. Season like a steak, add some onions or anything else or nothing at all between tits. Fold skin side out and secure closed with toothpicks or alike. Cook, eat, enjoy.

Many counties in TX have the 13" rule, my primary deer lease included. 2 buck limit. Allowed one buck that must have 13" spread and one buck that has at least 1 unbranched antler (e.g. spike or 3 point). I don't mind it at all. We don't have a shortage of deer. I can count one 1 finger the number of mature bucks I've passed on due to this rule.
