Other athletes like football players are constantly getting tackled on field turf, and they aren't getting cancer, so it can't be the rubber pellets.

Maybe it's those big goalie gloves?

re: NBA Trade Deadline Thread

If history is any indication, Houston is going to make a trade that nobody saw coming. Rarely has the media called a Houston trade before it happens. There's always speculation, and the actual trade is something nobody speculated on.

So I would take all of these "reports" about where Dwight Howard is going with a grain of salt.

Sure, so get draft picks. If they were a legit contender this season, maybe.

What's the point of getting Whiteside? A 1st round draft pick is better value than Whiteside at this point for HOU.

The real catch is probably Dragic.

The Rockets wanted Dragic and tried to get him in free agency but he went to Miami.

They are making all of the right moves and hitting homerun after homerun. Hopefully it translates to wins on the field.

Sources say they are discussing a 3-team deal with Hou, Mia, and Atl.

Dwight to ATL
Horford and Teague to MIA
Dragic, Whiteside, and Anderson to HOU

ATL also wants Winslow. Miami doesn't want to trade him.

I don't think you'll find any Rockets fans acting like this is the same Dwight from even just a couple years ago.

His athleticism is gone now. He is still athletic, but doesn't have his super-human athleticism anymore that deterred players from challenging him inside and he can't alter shots like he used to.

His time as an elite player is over.

Too many marginal teams, way too many marginal players, matador D, other than a couple, not great coaching. It's my perception, right or wrong, that today's game is all about ME, ME, ME.
I don't think you realize that the reason they changed the defensive rules in the early '00's was because the late 90's it was nothing but isolation basketball. No ball movement, and the game was slow.

Now, the games are fast-paced with a lot of ball movement.

Defense is actually good now and teams give effort throughout the whole game and not just the 4th quarter.

Your gripes were kind of true at one time... but not anymore. Seriously, if you still think the NBA is how you say it is, your perception is way off and you're missing out big time.
It is legal if the referee feels it is necessary to prevent injury to the dunker of the defender.

If a player hangs on it just to hang on it then it's illegal and it's enforced.

Lenny Dykstra

Was coming to say this.

Billy Beane said he was really dumb and overly-confident. Classic meathead in every way.

"While playing in Double-A in 1984 he befriended fellow outfielder and teammate Billy Beane, who later said that Dykstra was "perfectly designed, emotionally" to play baseball and that he had "no concept of failure." According to Beane, his first comments on seeing Hall of Fame pitcher Steve Carlton warming up were, "shite, I'll stick him."[1]"

Why is all this shite being brought up now?

I told you why. Shaun King doesn't like how the white quarterback (Manning) is being praised while the black quarterback (Newton) is being hated on a bit for his behavior after the Super Bowl.

He's bringing up an old story to try to take some shine away from Peyton because he's white and he's liked.

That's the motivation.

Once you realize that Shaun King looks at everything through the lens of race, his motivations for everything he writes falls right into place.
"Scoring 14 goals with 3 goal limit per player"

WTFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF??????????????????
Actually, I didn't even read the article when I made my first post. But after skimming the article just now, Shaun King pretty much admits exactly what I said. I can read him like a book. He's a race-baiting hack. Here's an excerpt from the article:

quote:

On the morning after Super Bowl 50, I posted a picture on my Facebook page of Cam Newton smiling and embracing Peyton Manning after the game and simply asked why that warm photo wasn't being talked about instead of Cam being frustrated at the post-game press conference. It has since been shared more than 234,000 times and seen by more than 20 million people. It now has nearly 6,000 comments, but on that morning, just one leaped out at me, which mentioned something to the effect of "Peyton sexually assaulted a girl in college."

Now, I get a lot of crap posted on my Facebook page, but I decided, on a whim, to Google "Peyton Manning sexual assault University of Tennessee." That's how I discovered the two old USA Today articles about the case. Later that day, when I wrote an article on the racial double standards in the media between Peyton Manning and Cam Newton, I decided to mention the sexual assault case, and how the allegations had somehow slid right off of Peyton like virtually every other mistake he has ever made in his career.

There it is right there.

He thinks there is a racial double standard when talking about Peyton Manning and Cam Newton, and he is giddy about showing that white people do bad things too. That's his whole agenda.
I know he didn't. But this story is 20 years old and has been brought up time and time again. Why would he be bringing it up again now?

The writer of this article, Shaun King, is a white guy who was pretending to be a black guy and was one of the leaders of the Black Lives Matter movement.

He was accused of accepting funding from regular people for a variety of BLM-related projects, but never following through and keeping the money. He caught a ton of heat from his supporters for that. That, plus him lying about being black, led to the other leaders of the Black Lives Matter movement to kick him out of the group.

One of Shaun King's favorite things to do is to smear white people with pretty solid reputations, like Peyton Manning, because he thinks it makes black people look better if white people are engaging in bad behavior too.

He's a hack.

I have no doubt that he's trying to smear Peyton Manning because he took shine away from Cam Newton. Cam was painted as somewhat of a villain after the Super Bowl, and Peyton has been glorified and is expected to ride out into the sunset. It's Shaun King's way of trying to take some shine away from Peyton Manning by re-visiting a controversy from 20 years ago.

I'm not saying Peyton didn't do what it says he did. I'm just saying this is very old news and Shaun King is rehashing it because he has an agenda.

Y'all remember Stromile Swift throwing down a sick dunk on Tyrus Thomas?

For some reason they don't list an address number.
