re: How jelly is Florida of UCF having not 1 but 2 undefeated seasons?

UF's won more championships than UCF's claimed to have won.

If the SEC is serious about putting Baylor or Oklahoma in their place they will send somebody that can do the job.
Aggies beat both of them by 4 TD's last time we played.

Bama's distractions will cost them the SEC title.
Although...

Bama's distractions will cost them the Iron Bowl.
re: LSU & Jimbo Fisher

There are better coaches out there. Jimbo is simply a less loveable version of Les. Les at least has charisma, if nothing else. With Jimbo, LSU is still going to lose two games a year, every year. The blank, helpless look on Jimbo's face when his team is losing tells me everything I need to know about his abilities as a coach. In those moments, it's never more obvious how little Jimbo has going on upstairs. That man will never have the answers when he needs them. LSU will have to get used to losing unexpectedly to bottom-feeders... especially in those years that they happen to knock off Bama.
I actually like the Mora idea. Mora at LSU, Fisher at FSU, Richt at Georgia, and Jones at Tennessee would be amazing. Amazing.

re: What would you sacrifice to have Saban?

The going rate is a program's integrity. If a fanbase is willing to sacrifice the integrity of its program for nattys, then guys like Saban and Meyer will absolutely get the job done.

I just hope LSU keeps him around so I can keep marking the Florida game on my mini LSU calendar with a W.
re: DBU: Florida or LSU?

I think fans of either school are honest enough to admit that outright ownership of the title depends upon the year. The fact that the debate overwhelmingly revolves around LSU and UF is pretty telling.
LSU will always be DBUw, and Florida will always be DBUe. The better team in a given year wins the DB National Title, and gets to claim DBU for that year.
Either school also has the right to nominate another school for temporary, honorary DBU status, but both schools must approve the nominee, and the status is automatically revoked at the end of the season in which it has been granted.
Right now, Florida gets my nod for the outright title, but our DBs haven't really played up to their potential this year. LSU seems to be in a similar boat.

quote:Treon's been so hard to get a read on. I'll come away from a game feeling like he played poorly, yet his stats will wind up better than I would have guessed. His inconsistency throwing the ball is what frustrates me the most. In one series he'll throw an incompletion or two, and then throw a floater up for grabs, only to follow it up in the next series by hitting the right reads, in stride, and steadily moving the chains. Some of his throws against SCar were a little concerning, as he's always been good about protecting the ball. He does seem to finish strong though, which is hard not to like. I still don't think the staff have zeroed in on his sweet spot yet.
I think we have a chance-- Treon as bad as he's been has this weird ability to step up when its needed most
As for FSU, maybe that's when they zero in on it. You might be right about the staff protecting him for this game. It would make sense. I view FSU onward as "bold statement" opportunities in which we'll have the chance to maybe sway a few recruits who might not be as high on us as we'd like, but in which we can't really do anything that's going to drastically hurt the momentum we've generated heading into next year. It's definitely been a fun year.

quote:It isn't like we haven't played Bama recently. Maye and Morrison will undoubtedly be picked on like they were the last time. Which is a big concern. Our defense is great, but it's inconsistent, too. That being said, our corners should be able to have a little fun at Coker's expense. We'll see.
Bama won't dominate us. Our defense is too good. Likely beat us sure..but not a blow out. Add in coach mac and Doug know Saban and his defense that hasn't changed since they left. So may find ways to exploit it a bit and keep the game respectable
Regardless, I'll be happy if we can keep it a close game into the third quarter. This year has basically been like a signing bonus... the real payoff comes later.
re: BAMA is most penalized team in the SEC

quote:No, because by law the list would then have to disclose the exact amount in USD that each official was paid to miss each of the corresponding penalties (for tax purposes), as well as disclose the names of any and all Tide boosters involved in the facilitation of each and every payment, and so the officials' union pushed hard for, and won, some sort of privacy clause while renegotiating its contract with the SEC a few years back. Don't worry, everything's totally on the up and up here.
Does this include all of the bizarre missed calls as well?
