re: Of the 6 home runs hit today, how many of them were out at The Box?

New flash, baseball fields outfield dimensions are not uniform…
This is always such a wired thing that some LSU fans fixate on and it’s pretty silly tbh. Both teams are playing in the same park, it’s not like the walls move back when we come up to bat. Just play the game.

re: How do we make sure Jay Johnson and Baseball get more funds?

This is asinine, Baseball gets tons of money respectively already.
The Athletic Department is signaling they are going to invest more in Basketball and that is a good thing for all sports. The top basketball programs bring in approx. 10 mil a year right now. It only makes sense to prioritize Basketball in the Rev Share era. Baseball will still get theirs but basketball is a far more important sport to the program as a whole and I'm glad the admins are recognizing that finally.

Why would Oats leave, he has about the same success rate at Bama that Davis had at UNC who just got fired. He's basically worshiped and Bama can match anything UNC wants to pay.

I get that, but they’re barely lower than some of the semi-private courses in the area.
Those courses don't do the volume Santa does and my guess is both price and location. I know Santa does a ton of rounds from people in Ascension. You are comparing it to courses that would take 1.5 hours round trip vs max 40 mins RT for those AP residents.
Raise the out of Parish price and they will get more money or less play, either one is a step in the right direction.

I added it late, but you can book either of those courses for $50 online prepaid. You can also get the BREC Card which is cheap for your pick of 5 courses.
All of this is just to say BREC golf runs cheap competitively due to the taxes invested in the system. I think people from WBR, Ascension, Livingston, etc should pay 15-30 more a round depending on the course and time if they aren't contributing to the BREC taxes. Annual passes should also be priced higher.

Find me any remotely comparable courses to Santa and Beaver in the area that are $65 on weekends. Its also only $50 if you pay online.
I'll hang up and listen...

One thing all BREC courses need to do is have different rates for parish residents. Giving non residents cheap golf at the expense of EBR tax payers has always bothered me. Many other counties and cities have similar rate structures for municipal courses.
I’d be willing to bet around 30% of the play at Santa comes from outside EBR

Yeah, I like the NBA rule, if its a genuine foul its 1 shot and ball back. If it is a foul like last night then you can call intentional and get two shots and ball back. That way you are punished either way for fouling before the ball is inbounded. Keeps the game moving.

Once they tee off only a coach can talk to them or of course playing partners can confer with each other on shots. My daughter told her to re-tee.. that girl decided hitting a 3 wood from a fluffy lie taking the tree out of play was her better option.
None of this makes sense

Why did no one tell her to just re tee? S&D is always and option, even when the distance is towards the hole.

you can get around this by putting your ball under your armpit between holes. using body heat isn't counted as illegal.
I’m aware, my post was just in reference to using hand warmers on golf balls.

How serious is the tournament? Intentionally heating golf balls during comp play is illegal and my ruffle some feathers or get you dq'ed. I've seen the latter happen in person.

Also interesting because that Golf Pass article has it on the "new public" golf courses opening in 2026.
I just cant imagine a place like that getting more than 150 members. The population is just too sparce up there. Might be more Depending on price and if they discount BR as "out of town". I remember the bluffs gave a discount to anyone south of 10 and still couldn't pull any members.

I don't know if this will work, You have to be a pretty high end course with a good location to survive on Members only in Louisiana. There have been many in the BR area that started with the same intention but had to shift to semi private.

Sometimes people do unexpected things when they know their time is near.
At least it a golf course and not some of the things other older gentleman have been know to do.

Baton Rouge and Frisco....
How are these two the same?
Maybe make comparisons to Birmingham, Little Rock, Columbia etc.

What kind of douchebag would say something like this and add the lol… Being a great basketball program does 10 times more for a university than being a great baseball program. That’s why most schools don’t invest much in baseball. We should be good at all three…
re: Stadium Size Matters.

This feels more like a chicken/egg argument. Are these stadiums causing the success, or is the success building the stadiums. College football is traditionally a dynastic sport and those dynasties build big stadiums. No one built a 80k seat stadium thinking it would bring a championship out of the blue.

The sun is definitely not directly overhead in November, it will be more southerly because we are approaching the winter solstice which means it will continue to rise further south and trace the sky at a lower more southern angle. Unless I missed something and tiger stadium is now in South America the sun will never be directly overhead head in November. Certain areas of the south end zone will have some shade. Most of the stadium will be in the sun.
