For those unaware, Elwood was ZZ Top's VERY longtime guitar tech prior to Dusty's passing. As his health deteriorated prior to his death, Dusty made it very clear his wish that Billy and Frank continue on, with Elwood specifically as his successor. Elwood is also the coolest dude on the planet, I...
Stellar call but I'm extremely biased ... Scott Dalhover's signature pickup pickup is a Carondelet Turbobucker. Here's that pickup in action ... [link=(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9YzlTIO1mTk&t=...
Skynyrd's set list last night was the same they played in Biloxi two weeks ago (I was there too). A 15-song headline set as part of a bill featuring three major acts is plenty sufficient IMHO. Then again, I'm admittedly biased ... [img]https://i.postimg.cc/hjk4xnHX/Screenshot-20240405-055504...

Thanks for the plugs. If you Google "The Fret Shack" my contact info is easy to find. Be aware - spring is our busiest time of the year and this is our busiest spring ever. The wait list to get a guitar in the door is about weeks deep right now....
None of my present day "stratocasters" are Fenders, unless you count this one from Leo's final chapter ... 1996 G&L Legacy retrofitted for a Carondelet S trio. The mini switch enables extra pickup combos not available on a stock five-way blade. ...

As I've told you before, Houston had a guitar show years ago but the market didn't support it. Why? Serious buyers knew bigger annual shows that recruited more abroad dealers and subsequently more inventory were the short drive to DFW. Houston subsequently died on the vine because all it attr...

Unsure when you're going, but the biggest and best "guitar shop" in America hands down is the Dallas Market Hall downtown during [link=(https://www.guitarshow.com/)]Dallas International Guitar Festival[/link] weekend. This year's DIGF is May 3-5. Carondelet will have a double booth with about 20 ...
I'll echoplex the nod for Rage ... Warning was great but Rage was light years better. Then again, there's nothing at all weak at any point in the QR arsenal from the eponymous EP through Empire. Just an outstanding run....
E-mail me for pricing ... info AT thefretshack DOT com...

The Quad was out of MAB's possession for over a decade, it was stolen while on tour with Nitro in El Paso, TX, in the early 1990s. It turned up about 10 years later on a local pawn shop wall for $225. It eventually got back to MAB after its true identity was confirmed. Ritz guitars were made by W...
I only clicked on this thread because I thought it was about Floyd Rose tremolo systems. ...
The art-deco key buttons were inspired by Grover Imperials. My D'Angelico has them - the coolness is off the charts. Only downside is they won't fit in most stringwinders haha....
Hagstrom was Sweden's foray in the early days of electric guitars and rock and roll. The Viking is a reissue of the Hagstrom semihollow electric Elvis made popular when he used one on his Comeback TV show in '68. Here's the only Hagstrom I have ever owned ... an insanely rare, stupid clean and fu...

Mike Fuller paved the road for all the high-quality limited-quantity boutique and custom house pedal pushers (who also recycle legacy circuits) that we've seen emerge over the last 20+ years. I'd call that pretty innovative. Fulltone's niche was offering desirable tones (that often happened to be...

I guess this means my "pre-Jackson Audio" DejaVibe, SupaTrem and Choralflange are worth more $$$ huh? I'm kidding, there worth more to me as tools than as turns. Every pedal Mike made was GOLD and I'm glad they are back. I look forward to the next chapter....

I got to spend a day with him and his wife Bobbye at Dockside back in 2015, Jo-El's kindness and down-to-earth nature truly eclipsed his talent and accolades. Sorry to hear of his passing. Prayers to Bobbye and the fam....
Most Les Paul players who patronize my shop say they want their LP to sound like Page, or Gibbons, or Slash. Nope, sorry, I want mine to sound like John Sykes. Among the GOATs, no question or hesitation....
