As Dick DeGuerin said recently: "Slim and none, and slim just left town"
And, Wisconsin wouldn't stand a chance

re: I Stand in Awe of Arkansas' Legislators

This legislature is the direct result of term limits and the fact that most legislators are now non-lawyers who have no concept of or interest in what is and is not constitutional. Term limits were a good thing at the time in that it got rid of a "good old boy" network that bordered on, if it didn't actually engage in, corruption. However, the downside has been the election of absolute morons with radical notions of how society should act and no hesitation in coming up with non-sensical legislation to impose their radical beliefs.

re: Arkansas fans, I'm asking you to be 100 percent honest just this once

Frankly, I would doubt it. Winning a national championship in basketball is like catching lightning in a bottle for most programs in the SEC, with the possible exception of Florida. As said above, although it would be nice for it to happen, winning a national championship isn't necessary for a successful program. Being in the conversation on a regular basis is. If we can keep going back to the tournament and making it past the first round, then I think most will be satisfied.
In a way, it's a curse to win the championship - after that, anything less is a failure to most fans. Even Nolan, with basically the same team, couldn't repeat in '95 or thereafter - and, 7 years later, he was gone - you can say it was his big mouth that got him fired in 2002 but if he had been consistently producing national championship contenders he could have said what he said and not have been shown the door.

re: Is Arkansas the GOAT stepping stone in CFB?
Posted by stucco on 3/22/15 at 4:49 pm
None of those listed were actually head coaches at Arkansas although we have had a few (e.g. Lou Holtz) who labored at Arkansas during the Broyles AD era. Those all left or were forced to leave because of Broyles. That era has passed - as long as we can manage to hire a coach who can keep it in his pants (unlike Petrino), longevity should become the rule from this point on.......
And, the "stepping stone" theory didn't work out too well for Houston Nutt - I guess if you're saying that players and asst coaches who were at Arkansas for a time went on to do well at other institutions/teams, I guess that's not a bad thing.

Unless you Piggies would have won and we would have heard te number 17... I was wondering if that was the number of SEC football wins you had recently.
No, that was the number of points we scored against you in football this past year - as I recall, 0 was your score :rotflmao:

I typically root for any SEC team playing a non-SEC team - just seems like the thing to do - OTOH, I'm having trouble not rooting against KY this year
