I was in high school waiting to get in the pit before Florida 2007. The college kids had been camping out and drinking all night and were rowdy as hell. A few Florida fans walk by, and one of LSU's finest scholars climbs on his buddy's shoulders, swaying, beer in hand, and screams:

"WE EAT PIZZA

WE DRINK BEER

HEEEEY GATORS..

FUUUCK YOUUUUU"

And the crowd went wild. I knew I'd to go LSU that moment.
They do this every year. This is not news.
Great article. The guy that wrote this (Steven Godfrey) has an awesome college football podcast called Podcast Ain't Played Nobody if you wanna hear more of his stuff. Very insightful and funny. He actually married into an LSU family and goes to some LSU games.

Bo Wallace reads Buzzfeed.
Random question: does anyone know of cheap sources of ball-lock corny kegs in or around Baton Rouge? I'm ready to start kegging and wanna cut costs wherever I can. I'm fricking sick of bottling.
Tanner McEvoy literally can't even.
I actually saw an awesome graph about this same question on reddit the other day:

quote:

So did the "Welcome to Death Valley" sign at Tiger Stadium predate "Clemson Welcomes You to Death Valley" at their place?

No idea. This is all I could find on the topic (last line). Didn't even know about their sign
Badass. Reminded me of this quote from an old ESPN article:

"...there is a 25-yard-long sign that reads, "Welcome to Death Valley'' mounted below the pressbox. Those are the little touches at which LSU excels. Most schools wouldn't even put up such a name. Others would just say, "Death Valley" and leave it at that. But not LSU. Here, it's "Welcome to Death Valley." That's beautiful. It's like descending into Hell and finding a sign that reads, "Satan Invites You to Enjoy Eternal Damnation." - Jim Caple
I know there's a good number of Vulfpeck fans on here, so check out their new album Sleepify. It's 10 songs, each being 31-32 seconds of silence, but the point is to raise money for their upcoming Sleepify tour. Each time you play any song on Spotify for more than 30 seconds, that artist receives $0.005. So Vulfpeck put out this album and is asking fans to stream it on Spotify on repeat while they sleep. If they raise enough money, they'll make all of their upcoming shows free admission. Spotify also provides analytics showing where their music is being streamed, so Vulfpeck's goal is to play completely free shows in cities where their music was streamed the most.

Vulfpeck fans: let's band together and get a free show in New Orleans or BR. Just play their Sleepify album on repeat while you sleep each night.

I'm a fan. That's off their new album though, which I personally don't like nearly as much as their first one.

One of their better songs: Rill Rill

Drinking on Bama's campus?

How strict are the fuzz about alcohol in general on gamedays at Alabama? Should we be worried about walking around with open containers?

Plucker's.

Same.

I hugged two dudes I didn't know, and a waitress. Full on embrace.

Same. And I threw my chair. Easily one of the top 3 sports moments of my life.
One of the best short-term things you can do is focus on the student section. An active, large, and loud student section is always a great part of any SEC game, and I feel like that's something you can accomplish first. Come up with some unique chants, dances, and interactions with the band so the students aren't just sitting on their arse the whole game.

Same boat. I've decided to pick a team this season, so I've been reading a few articles about the process and the different teams. I don't plan on picking until I watch a few games, but right now it's a two horse race between Spurs and Liverpool. The Bill Simmons article made me lean towards Spurs, but I really like the fan dedication and history of Liverpool. We'll see.

Also, for some reason I was really drawn to Newcastle. Apparently their fans are young, rowdy, and drunk, which reminded me of SEC student sections. I'm keeping them as my dark horse, even though they have no chance of winning anything.
Same here. I just listened from that point on. And I definitely enjoyed the first two. Although the novelty did wear off a bit for the second one.
