re: SEC Tourny needs change

I absolutely hate this format. It's ridiculous that you can go 1-1 against the team that eliminates you. The Hogs got that vs LSU in 2013. Sucked then just as much as it sucks for LSU now.
Bert opting to kick a field goal late in the 3rd quarter against Texas Tech when we hadn't forced a punt all day. Hogs were playing catch-up from there.

Without Hunter Henry the SEC wouldnt even be represented in the playoffs.

This guy has to be joking. In 2010, the Iron Bowl was on the Saturday after the LSU-Arkansas game. After the Hogs beat LSU on Friday, we had to wait for the epic Camback in Tuscaloosa to find out we finished 2nd in the West and got the Sugar Bowl.

Just wait until the Mizzou students figure out they play Arkansas on Black Friday.
This is one wacky season. Arkansas was 2 errors away from winning a series but 1 Jake Wise hit away from being swept. Frightening.

I sure hope it's as easy as you suggest, but Auburn has been our Achilles heel the past few years. Hogs haven't taken the series since a sweep on the Plains in 2009. We really need a sweep this year, but I'd happily settle for 2/3.

All the losses I mentioned (Western Illinois and Pacific last year) were on the weekend, but point taken. I agree.

Arkansas' RPI is too low and Tennessee is 12th in the conference. Both are NCAA Tournament teams, but not in contention for hosting.

I'd like to think Arkansas would have a shot at hosting if they got to 38 wins or so, but I expect you're right. We finished 2nd in the West last year, 3rd in the conference, went 7-3 in series wins/losses, and swept South Carolina in Columbia, but were left out of the 5 SEC host sites because of RPI. Two early season losses to poor teams doomed us and, while not as severe, our early series loss to South Alabama this year coupled with playing a pair of RPI bottom dwellers is serving to do the same.

It's not like LSU is batting very good, they have good pitching but so does Bama.

Exactly. LSU is a good team, as they always are, but they have weaknesses this year. Their offense has struggled to produce runs at times and, until last weekend, they were hurting for a third starter. They needed 2 Ole Miss errors to eke out a win in the 13th inning last Thursday with Nola on the mound. Great win, and great series win, but they're not invincible. The LSU/Alabama match-up should be a good one.
Looks pretty good. Happy the Hogs moved ahead of Vandy.

There, I edited my rankings and put Alabama at #2. Does that make you happy? Can you now have an enjoyable and productive afternoon?

Did you do this with every team?!?

That would be impossible. But I've watched Arkansas play every game this year; I know who they've played and how they've played against every opponent. The only realistic argument you could really have with my ranking is in my placement of Alabama at 6th, but, like most here, I expect them to take a tumble when they enter the difficult part of their schedule. As of now, I do know Arkansas took two of three from them, so they go below us, imo.
What's so funny? I ranked Arkansas behind the three ranked teams they've lost series to, and ahead of the three ranked teams they've won series from. That includes Vanderbilt, South Carolina, and Alabama.
1. Florida
2. Alabama
3. LSU
4. Ole Miss
5. Mississippi State
6. Arkansas
7. Kentucky
8. South Carolina
9. Vandy
10. Texas A&M
11. Auburn
12. Georgia
13. Tennessee
14. Missouri
1. Florida
2. LSU
3. Ole Miss
4. Mississippi State
5. Arkansas
6. Alabama
7. Kentucky
8. South Carolina
9. Vandy
10. Texas A&M
11. Auburn
12. Georgia
13. Tennessee
14. Missouri

1-9 are all pretty close this year, as are 10-13. And then there's Mizzou.
