1967 – Mariner program: Mariner 5 is launched towards Venus.
1994 – The 1994 Vancouver Stanley Cup riot occurs after the New York Rangers defeat the Vancouver Canucks to win the Stanley Cup, causing an estimated C$1.1 million, leading to 200 arrests and injuries.

1973 – In a game versus the Philadelphia Phillies at Veterans Stadium, Los Angeles Dodgers teammates Steve Garvey, Davey Lopes, Ron Cey and Bill Russell play together as an infield for the first time, going on to set the Major League Baseball record of staying together for 8+1/2 years.
1983 – Pioneer 10 becomes the first man-made object to leave the central Solar System when it passes beyond the orbit of Neptune.
1994 – A jury in Anchorage, Alaska, blames recklessness by Exxon and Captain Joseph Hazelwood for the Exxon Valdez disaster, allowing victims of the oil spill to seek $15 billion in damages.
1996 – The Montana Freemen surrender after an 81-day standoff with FBI agents.

They pulled me over a few years ago on my way back from Grand Isle—doing 70 in a 60 iIIRC. A few weeks after the ticket, I got a letter from the DA’s office. It included a form they wanted me to sign where I agreed to follow local speed laws, and if I sent in a $150 money order, the offense would be reduced to a non-moving violation and wouldn’t affect my insurance. Again this was years ago so YMMV.
edit: or do like another poster said and call the DA's office and ask them to reduce it to a non moving violation in exchange for paying a fine

for anyone turned off by AO, I'd highly recommend looking into Barra 76. I've hung out with the Dallas chapter a few times, and their philosophy and approach to supporter culture couldn't be more different.
