re: What did you have for Thanksgiving?

Well, Ole Miss fans had a healthy dose of crow.....twas a bizarre game but wait til next year. :wah:  :rotflmao:

What points of mine are you refuting?
Against bad defenses we look great.
Against good defenses we look terrible.

Against Arky we finally started giving the ball to the RBs more often. Also we snapped the ball a lot more quickly today.

I'm here to have a discussion. I'll be happy if Moorhead proves me wrong. That being said. I'm shocked we put up more than 28 and am really happy that the Seniors, and those playing their last games at Scott Field had a great day and got to participate and do well.

Ps. If they want to pay me a few million a year I'll happily accept though. I'll damn well make sure our best players get the ball more consistently.

I imagine I've been a Moo U fan longer than you've been alive....I'm not trying to break your balls here, but if history is any indication, Moorhead will get a couple of years to get things rolling in his direction. I thought Mullen was in the same boat when he got to Starkville and he took the Dawgs about as far as he was going to take them. Moorhead will probably do OK....I'd suggest giving him another season to get rolling. The hype about championship was over the top but it was simply a means of firing up the troops. One more thing, IMO Mullen was a terrible game time manager. Moorhead, IMO deserves another season before people start calling for his head on a platter. If Moo U beats Ole Miss and gets and wins a decent bowl game, then a nine game win inaugural season ain't too shabby. As always, YMMV and OALA, EHOATAS.
AustinDawg,

First off, my sympathies to you for living in the Soviet Republic of Austin....I managed to escape. Second, with all of your sterling knowledge of college football coaching, why aren't you coaching? Perhaps after Saban finally retires you can take the reins at Alabama..... :rotflmao:

re: C’mon guys. That was a good win.

It was a good win....appears as if Fitz showed up and so did the receivers. A&M is not a bad team either, though their homers are grousing about Jimbo not performing miracles in his first year. Let's face it, A&M is to Texas as Moo U is to Ole Miss. I like the Aggies and I am glad the Dawgs won this one...next year at A&M should be a real challenge. :grind:
It seems to me that this was a decent win. Not pretty and the dependence on Nick Fitz to carry the team is not a good omen for the future but let's take our wins as we can. Going to Red Stick in two weeks will be a huge challenge. Still, Go Dawgs.... :grind: :grind:

This must be one of the most lame butcheries of a song I've ever seen. :nana: Dude, the football team under Moorhead will do fine as MSU can do. I'd wager you are a young lad who has not suffered through the mediocre history of MSU football. Moo U will never be "elite" in sports and as a double alumni that's fine by me. Crom forbid anybody would recall the primary function of a university is to teach students....so, back to the half empty stadium of reality for you bucko...

Well, you are cordially invited to eat shite and die. It has this to do with MState. It leaves the Bulldogs to stand up for MS and it gives the Big12 bragging rights. It undermines the value of SECW wins if the number 3 team in the SECW gets stomped like a limp dicked dog.... :rotflmao:

Looks like the Dawgs will have to defend the name of MS in football lore today. The Rebels are going into halftime trailing 28-0. I don't know how they can come back from that. I guess Bad Bo showed up in Atlanta.... :violin:

Daughter of my cousin and hell yes....which brings to mind, if a man and woman get divorced in Mississippi, are they still brother and sister?

Folks,

Gerald Berry was a student in the anthropology department at MSU in the early 70s. I knew him in that time period and saw him when I'd pass through Starkville over the years. IMO, a lot of wasted potential but he lived the life he apparently wanted. Pretty much the old Mr. Natural/hippie character that was ostracized in times past and came to be accepted as Starkville relaxed a bit. I hate to see him go, but I'm not surprised....passing of an era and all that noise. He knew one of my second generation cousins....she was also a hot co-ed in the day....RIP Gerald

What gives with Ladarius Perkins?

Posted by OldMooUDawg on 11/17/13 at 8:03 pm
Hi Folks,

I know that Mullen bears a lot of responsibility for bone-headed play calling, but it seemed to me that every time Perkins got the ball, he slipped and fell. Ten carries for twenty-five yards? Is he injured, spooked or just over-hyped? :violin:

German beer would be great to drink in a beer garden. The one in Starkville has a couple of good beers, but they serve the beer in mason jars if I remember correctly. What a travesty!

Well, serving beer in a mason jar is sort of lame. Bier gartens are not only common in Germany...they are all over the place. The problem with serving German and European beers in Starkville is two-fold. First, getting the local market to pony up for German beers might be a challenge. Don't get me wrong, I've had a lot of German beers both in Germany and over here. But how do you educate locals about the joys of seasonal German beers like Dopple Bock, Maibock, Marzen, Rauchbier, Oktoberfest, witbier, Berlinerweis and so forth when Bud light and such is the norm? Secondly, American craft brewers make beers that are every bit as good as, and typically more innovative than, German beers. That's one reason why I think Starkville is a ripe market for a brewpub, with onsite brewed beers. There's one in Oxford according to Southeastern Brewer News. In any case, it's a moot point for me as I rarely make it back to the old stomping grounds. At least Starkville has a trendy coffee shop on Main St. now.... :doublebird:

Actually the play calling was atrocious as always. Perkins gets too many snaps also.

I have not been sold on Mullen since his first year. Gametime coaching decisions in his era are absurd. The guy is the 25th highest paid coach in the U.S. He's simply not worth the money. I think that MSU would be well served to get somebody who has southern roots.....Ole Miss found a gem in Hugh Freeze. To me Mullen is just another loud-mouthed, yankee snake-oil salesman.....and before you people start ranting about how many wins Mullen has, please show me one quality win against a talented opponent.....it has not happened.

The only resemblance to the Starkville beer garden and a real beer garden is the outdoor atmosphere and bench tables. The beer is mostly local and the food doesn't resemble anything like a true beer garden which is a shame. Some grilled chicken, ribs, schnitzel, brats and giant pretzels are great simple foods that would make this place rock. They tried to get to fancy with things like rubarb pie. It is really not to be confused with a beer garden.

Nothing wrong with mostly local beer, if it really is brewed mostly locally. There are a number of craft brewers in the southeast producing some decent beer, even one (barely) in MS. What Starkville really needs is a bona fide brewpub, but I think the local government makes it hard to open up a business in that town, unless you have connections. It's a shame. Sad to say, Oxford is a much nicer town for eating and drinking. Of course things have improved over the time I was an undergraduate when Oktibbeha county was dry.
