Virginia Tech announced the firing of head coach Brent Pry on Sunday following the Hokies' 0-3 start to the season.

South Carolina coach Shane Beamer, whose father coached at Virginia Tech for 29 years, was asked Sunday about some of the rumors that he could be a candidate to replace Pry.

Here's what he had to say. Per SDS:
quote:

“I think the week of the Virginia Tech game, I told everyone how I feel about South Carolina and my love for this place,” he told reporters on his weekly teleconference on Sunday afternoon, via The State. “That’s where my focus is at right now, just getting our football team better.”
Beamer has coached at South Carolina since 2021 and has a 31–23 record through five seasons with the Gamecocks.

Yeah, he can be the tough guy over there like his dad. Problem is, Bill Belichick will be taking all of the kids that used to go to his dads' program. North Carolina will be popping.
