The State in South Carolina reports that Gamecocks coach Steve Spurrier is in line for a contract extension that will bump his annual compensation to $4 million from $3.3 million.

Once the contract is approved Spurrier, who just completed his ninth season at USC, will be the third-highest paid coach in the SEC according to figures compiled by Saturday Down South. The highest-salaried coach in the league is Alabama’s Nick Saban, who reportedly is set to get a new deal worth $7 million per season, with Kevin Sumlin at Texas A&M second with a $5 million salary.
Spurrier has put together a nice little run at South Carolina including guiding the Gamecocks to three consecutive seasons with at least 11 victories.

Do you think Spurrier deserves the raise?

Wish nick would have made up his mind up a week or two earlier back in 2004.

Yes Steve deserves it. He's got South Carolina playing for sec titles. I say he gets his first this year coming.
