Report: Georgia Hires Brian Schottenheimer As OC

According to CBSSports, Georgia has hired Brian Schottenheimer to become its new offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach.

The 41-year old does have some college experience, though, spending the 1999 season as Syracuse's wide receivers coach, and coaching tight ends at USC in 2000.

It will be interesting to see how Georgia fans react to this news considering that Schottenheimer's offenses in St. Louis averaged only 20.2 points per game during his tenure there, and in New York his Jets offenses averaged 21.7 points per game.

Those aren't exactly the kind of numbers that will make a fan base excited, though the system Schottenheimer has run is similar to what Georgia has run for years.

Schottenheimer had spent the last three seasons as the offensive coordinator of the St. Louis Rams and was the OC for the New York Jets from 2006-2011.

He will replace Mike Bobo who left Athens to become head coach at Colorado State.
