On Thursday, we saw the helmets Ole Miss will wear to honor Chucky Mullins, who was paralyzed while tackling Vanderbilt fullback Brad Gaines in 1989 and passed away from a pulmonary embolism just two years later. They should have made the speed limit 38 mph on campus in honor of Mullins, not 18 for manning

I rarely am moved by sports-related historical synapses, but I admittedly found the SECStoried regarding the Mullins injury and his subsequent death quite compelling. The gesture seems rather appropriate considering the outstanding character of this departed young man.

For tomorrow's game, all 38-yard line hash marks will be painted red in honor of Chuckie Mullins.
