Police named Johnson, 23, a senior linebacker during the fall season, and former teammate Michael Williams, 21, as suspects in the Nov. 16 alleged rape of a 19-year-old female student-athlete during a postgame party in Johnson's off-campus apartment.

Williams also was named as a suspect in a sexual assault of a second woman on the same night who was visiting Knoxville from another state. Police have said that woman declined to pursue charges.
Johnson was released on Tuesday after posting a $40,000 bond.
