Well do an “Other Games” thread so that you can monitor the happenings and facemelters of all the other 50 games that don’t come through your coat hangar

Why?

ESPN pays a boatload for all of these rights so why can’t they control what they make to offer their programming?

Google is probably considering an anti-trust suit.
Basically Disney is making a play to control sports streaming.
I don't see this as any different in the suits against Microsoft for controlling too much market share related to the Windows OS.
This could end up like the AT&T breakup and cellular services like Verizon having to share their infrastructure at controlled rates.
Disney is basically raising the rates on their programing content to squeeze out streaming competition.

First of all, I know this sucks and I’m not trying to make light of it.

But, Google is a trillion dollar company and contribute $0 to producing the content they feel like they should have access to at their price so they can make more money?

Why isn’t everyone mad at Google for not paying so this doesn’t happen?

Plus Google would have some reall balls to sue anyone for antitrust.

I have Sling and YT-TV. I’m about to drop YT. Sling is better if you have high speed internet. This is all a Christmas bonus money grab for Disney. frick them.

This is a really good point.

ESPN has all the costs of production plus the massive contracts they pay the SEC, NFL, etc etc etc

That’s an even better point.

No business can monopolize a major from of communication media without eventual backlash.
It is why AT&T had to breakup.
It is why Microsoft got sued for dominating beyond their Windows OS.

In August 2024, Google was found guilty of monopolizing internet search by signing multibillion-dollar deals to make its search engine the default on browsers and smartphones.

In January 2025, Disney announced it would acquire a 70% stake in Fubo, a sports-focused streaming service.
• This move followed Fubo’s antitrust lawsuit against Disney, Fox, and Warner Bros. Discovery over their planned joint venture, Venu Sports, which was blocked by a federal injunction.
• The Department of Justice (DOJ) is now investigating the Disney-Fubo merger for potential anticompetitive effects.
• Regulators are concerned that Disney’s consolidation of ESPN, Hulu + Live TV, and now Fubo could reduce competition and inflate prices in the sports streaming market.
