Hey guys back with the Dawgs. I really think that CTG will be very picky like Kirby Smart has and he won't jump at the first few offers and I think he stays at UGA a couple more years.

He was in line for the Cleveland Browns HC job, but something came up that prevented the hire. Anybody remember what that was? He was way over qualified to be a D-Line coach at Dallas before coming here.... I hope he stays with us for a long time to come. Pay him 1.5 if that's what it takes.

It had to do w/ the politics of NFL:

1) Players on some teams get special treatment/playing time according to their salary/seniority. TG did not play along w/ this game.

2) He also undermined the HC at this point and became black balled for fricking w/ people's money (coaches & players.)

Atleast that's the way I read it at the time.

Who were the DCs that Richt interviewed before Grantham?

I remember Kirby Smart, and the one from VA Tech....

Funny how shite works out, aint it?

They say UGA threw out feelers to John Chavis, also.

Yeah and all those bastards used it as leverage to get nice raises.

Speaking of K. Smart I think of him the same way I think of that turncoat Muschamp. No longer welcome in the state of Ga.

Vic Koenning and Manny Diaz were names getting thrown around as well I believe.

But I think Smart and Grantham were our top 2 the whole time. Smart actually agreed to take the job before getting intimidated by that dwarf he works for. To be 100% honest, no sour grapes, I'd take grantham any day. Nobody knows what the hell smart can/will do when he's on his own. I don't care if alabama's defense is top 1 for the next 5 years, that defense is Saban's.

Exactly and that's why old Kirby won't leave!

I think he is OUR next HC...if not, why the extra title?...as was mentioned before..

i think CMR is getting old and ready to retire soon...i think the end of this extension he just did will be the end of his tenure...the way the good ole boy network goes at UGA, it will likely be CTG or BOBO that takes over imo...

at the latter of the two...

Disagree.

For all of Mark Richt's noble qualities....and there are many....... That is one vain son of a bitch right there, imo. (like all coaches probably)

You ever noticed how he spends fifteen minutes getting his butt-cut hairdo back together after they dump gatorade on him after a big win??? Dude loves the spotlight, and will fight to keep it for as long as possible, I believe.

Which is a good thing. Motivation, you know.

Agreed. Not saying that all would be lost if he went or anything, but considering what we shell out for CMR we had better fork over whatever the frick it takes to keep CTG happy.
