Good one!! I am typing on a cell phone and made a grammatical error. Congrats. For your information I graduated from UGA with honors and passed the CPA exam last month. Then again grammatical attacks and inability to refute my point is the only thing you can do.

I blame apple on that one. Most likely a Tech grad who made their autocorrect make up random words and word changes...

When/where did I ever say UGAg wasn't a "good" school? And my attending/not attending graduating/not graduating does not limit my having an opinion on these or any other institutions.

I never said you stated that... I brushed your ignorant statement aside... that one could not make "any" comparison, because factually responding to such a silly statement, would bring me down the to the intellect of a person who calls UGA "UGag"...Then I made fun of you for being a sidewalk academic fan...which is rich. Anything else?

You certainly implied it. And my saying UGAg is no different than "Yech" or NATS or etc. Grow up.

The point.
Your head.

Implied what?
As far as grow up... I am not the one using childish names for the rival of a school I did not attend...

No, you're just the one doing the message board equivalent of "I know you are, but what am I."
I made a statement about Tech academics v/s UGA academics - a statement that, by many accounts, is spot on (even by your own admission later on). You felt compelled to make an offhand comment that implied I was wrong, then, when I challenge you to back up your "retort", you pull the old "I'll not dignify that with a response" routine and choose instead to name call. You do this because I'm somehow not worthy to have an opinion as I am not a graduate of either institution (I am, however, an alum of one).
I like the term "sidewalk academic fan" - yes, i am. I encourage every one of my science-oriented students to consider transferring to Tech. Why? Because my familiarity with the institution via experiences as the child of an alum and as an academic who has collaborated with representatives from Tech on a handful of projects has demonstrated to me the value of a Tech education. I also have personal and professional experiences with UGA and its affiliates - some good (wrote for the R&B, very familiar with the Ag and Forestry schools, the campus sustainability programs) and some bad (the Grady School is bullshite, Adams was awful - actually interviewed him in his first semester as prez - I have some issues with the LA and EnvD folks), but always below Tech.
Now, UGA does have some opportunities to be better. As Deeprig notes, the university could be tops in some key areas - Vet med, forestry, Ag Ed, Ag Sci, etc. - if it would focus on making those things better instead of trying to be Tech (adding the Engineering (sic) degrees) or being MCG (or whatever the BOR is calling it these days) and just focused on what they do best (and those areas that were the cornerstones of the original charter). The Regents think they are being clever by adding to UGA's "menu" (most recently merging KSU and SPSU in an attempt to beef up the UGA engineering program), but they are merely watering down the whiskey.
It's going to bite them (and UGA) in the arse.

Does anyone else here smell sour grapes?

There you go again
Thank you for finally laying to rest any notions I had that you were interested in anything beyond playground name-calling and superficial one-offs.

Whatever you need to tell yourself to feel better. The fact is Tech has many accolades, including being the #1 institution of higher learning for ROI. The school has more than a few top 5 and top 10 programs by field. And, as noted here, Tech has an endowment that is double that of UGAg, a university with nearly triple Tech's enrollment. You guys can tout your football program all day long, but don't try to make ANY academic comparisons - it's just sour grapes and makes you look silly.

I work with more than enough of you jackasses to know. I didn't go to GTech for that very reason. I went to a school where I learned superior engineering along with the ability to apply it (thank you, US Military). Without wasting time on all that false bravado that the North Ave Trade School seems to. No, obviously not UGA, wasn't even an option since a certain petulant child was still blocking the formation of their engineering school at that time.
Thanks though, it isn't sour grapes. Would be more correctly called pity.

I did learn a lot of theory, but I'm damn good at application of that theory as well.
Good for you. I wish you would share with more of your fellow alumni how to pull that off.

Most if my feller alums are quite practical in their application of the theory we were taught.

Are the number of Rhodes Scholars from a given University an academic comparison?
I'll hang up and listen.
I'll hang up and listen.

Not really, no, according to the Rhodes Trust literature on the meaning of the award.

This is what makes this football board so great. Tech fans arguing academics.

TJ, you said you worked at red and black. Did you work in the old building or the "new" building?
Question #2-
How did your Georgia Tech father feel about the fact his son wasn't smart enough for Georgia Tech and only hacked 1 semester at UGA?
Did he smack the shite out of your mother?
