Funny thing. I see some posters (not lately, though) that wanted to open the offense up. But when you go to a fast paced wide open offense you usually end up with a defense like Oklahoma or Oregon.

The old saw, "Defense wins championships.' is still true. this past national Championship game pitted two teams that pound the football and play tough defense. It's good to be able to throw the ball around a bit to keep the other defense honest, and be able to make a comeback if you find yourself behind, but defense still is the best way to get the best results.

Who is saying this?

Been awhile since i have seen it, but there for a bit we had a few that wanted to go to a wide open throw the ball around type of offense. mainly back when Chip Kelly was at Oregon. It became the flavor of the day offense.
