I think traditionally the Peach bowl has been a night game, but it seems like with the time zone they would have started the Fiesta Bowl at 8pm EST(6pm mt time) and the Peach Bowl at 4pm EST. I assume they wanted the Peach Bowl at 8pm because it will get higher viewer #'s. I guess we will countdown the new year either highly elated or really bummed out. Will be kind of weird if the game is close at the end and they are counting down the new year.

ESPN picks which playoff game is at 4 and which is at 8. They picked the game that will have higher viewership for prime time

yah, it makes sense. It's a weird bowl year with New Year's day being on Sunday. There will not be any bowl games on New Year's day. I don't remember the last time NYD was on a Sunday. It's also weird to see the Sugar Bowl on at noon.

Yea, it's too late for us old folks.
We're usually in bed by 11.

I think the late start on New Years has something to do with the low ticket prices. It seems like more and more people want to be at home for New Year's. We went out 2 years ago on NYE and I was really surprised at how dead it was in Buckhead. Seems like it would have been better to have a 3pm and a 7pm start for the games but the Sugar Bowl was also today so they probably staggered it. So what are they going to do if the game is going on at the countdown? Have a timeout?
