Last year SC beat Florida and Auburn and North Carolina. Anyone with a brain knew those were wins that had more to do with the opponent than anything SC did, but media casuals see those big names and automatically associate beating them with oh SC must be getting better. That and his dad.

Didn’t Beamer leave Kirby's staff basically for a lateral move to ok? That might could have caused some lingering tension. But then maybe he was encouraged to move on.

Don't forget the air conditioning kerfuffle before the game...

Didn’t realize the extent of it either
My guess would be it’s because Kirby is blood brothers with Muschamp. And there’s some things Beamer has done and said since replacing Muschamp that are disappointing. You also have to always ask yourself why the media singles someone out to fawn over and uplift when they’ve done zero yet to deserve it. And that’s exactly what the sports media has done with Beamer “for some reason”.
Yah, the media loves Beamer and mostly because of his dad. His dad did some great things Va Tech for many years. I remember when Goff got fired Beamer's name was one of the first to come up. SC is a tough place to coach. They have always kind of been 2nd tier behind Clemson in SC and haven't any major championships or bowl games since joining the SEC. Other than the Spurrier years it's been rough. That year they beat us when we had Quincy Carter really stung though - I think it was 2000.
