Not sure if this has been mentioned yet, but I don't know if I've ever seen a more bizarre statline than the one from the passing offense last Saturday...

On Georgia's 3 scoring drives, Fromm was 8 for 10 for 102 yards and 3 touchdowns. For the rest of the game, 11 drives that resulted in punts, he was 5 for 18* for 8 yards.

5 for 18. 8 yards.

I'm not starting this thread to bash Fromm - it's more about the inept passing game in general. There's no reason for that area to be as downright horrible as it was in that stretch especially when, in the same game, they showed they could hit a deep middle pass for a TD and drive the ball 80 yards in less than 2 minutes before the half. Crazy to think that not only were they winning, but looked like the team was in full control heading into the 4th quarter.

I can't wrap my fricking head around how completely opposite the level of play was for those stretches in the game.

4th play of the game. Same drive as the Blaylock touchdown.

That stats not true. I remember two incompletions in the last scoring drive. One that was a great catch out of bounds by Jackson and the other was that 1 on 1 fade to Landers on during a blitz - my least favorite play from Georgia this season because it should always be a Cager route.

To your point: Fromm strength is his brain. It doesn't make sense, but it almost seems like Coley has limited his freedom this season or drilled into his mind that we want certain routes over others.

The first score was to the second option on the play. He actually almost threw the first pass, that 15 yard out to the sideline we see constantly, but then pulled back checked to Blaylock running a seam.

Second score was in the 2 minute. Auburn playing off for a couple of good throws to the sideline. The main play was a Swift draw that worked well because the D wasn't keying so much on the run, and he was allowed to operate in space for once. Also threw to backs a bit.

The last drive was almost all outside runs. There was an underneath crossing route I've seen work a few times but used sparingly, and the scoring play was a well sold play-action thrown to the TE - also rarely seen this season.

On all those drives Fromm just sat back and went through progressions - often going to check downs which happened to be crossing routes or running backs. We also ran the ball well, setting the tone primarily with runs to the outside.

I don't have a point here because I don't know what the fricking problem is. I guess my suggestion is do less of the shite we do all the time because it doesn't work and more of what we saw on these drives.

Thanks for pointing that out. I checked the georgiadogs play-by-play page (out of sheer boredom, lol) and you were right. I had forgotten about both of those plays, especially the Landers one because it resulted in a first down from an Auburn penalty. I'll edit my original post.

I'm in complete agreement on your last statement. As long as it's effective, I don't really care what kind of offense we run. It just needs to start pulling its weight down the stretch.

We seem to be best when there is a sense of urgency.

In the SEC Champ., I hope LSU has a 2 pt. lead late in the 4th - we'll win.

I sure hope we don't lead LSU by 10-13 in the early 4th.

Earlier this year I wanted more up tempo too. But I think we have realized our O is not producing TDs so we slow it down to give the opponent less possessions and rely on the D. Not saying I agree but that seems to be the plan.

I hate to state the obvious, but hope we are winning by 10-13 in the fourth.
Don't get superstitious with this. I always wan to be winning when we have a defense like we do.

it's as if after Fromm threw the long TD pass down the middle, the coaching staff decided that was enough of that.

Fromm has said you don't go broke making a profit. I read that further as when your best man goes down, you don't want to give up your profit by trusting others, to an extent.

Wimms injury cost us a NC. Fromm has been programmed that you don't try the ball over and you win it with d.

As tamu is supposed to be weather effected, maybe we can get the other WRs confidence against techs high school squad.
