I watched Brock's (and Philo's) high school careers firsthand. Their numbers are eye-popping, but they put them up against defenses that were completely outmatched, and PACS was still heaving bombs to the endzone when up by 40 in the fourth quarter.

PACS ran the score up so badly that teams refused to play the return games, and they now have trouble scheduling non-region games.

Brock is a good enough athlete that I thought he would develop, but the move to UK was just bad. Coen was still there when Brock made the move though.

It would be cool to see him on the sidelines helping with QBs during this play-off run. Maybe, even ND game since he made this announcement early.

A coaching career could be his path. Plus, Kirby and Bobo love the young man.

job isn't to make good NFL QB

In college, having several duel threat QBs is a much better pathway to win with the short time to develop QBs vs. all the work Pro-Style guys get with their WRs and TEs that make them so deadly and elite.

holy hyperbole batman! His career at UGA didn't go how we wanted but I wouldn't even call him a bust period, certainly not one of our biggest ever.

Eason is easily the biggest bust in program history. The frothing on here over him when he was a sophomore in a Washington state home school church league was bizarre.

Then he gets to Athens and people realize, Oh shite, this guy isn’t going to be enrolling in honors courses any time soon

And then it turned out bad for Fromm in the end. Because Fromm thought he was better than he was based on taking over for a bust that was built up by frauds

Everything fell like dominoes

Richts job was to fix all that and mold him into an NFL QB. Kirbys idea was win now in spite of QB play. Fromm was the right guy at the time, so was stet, and I hope Gunner.

Kirby took a different path with player development Kirby took no chances while CMR took too many. God bless them both As Saban changed the game and NIl has again.

marquise elmore, albert hollis, brandon miller, ray drew, blake barnes, durrell robinson just off the top of my head...all of those guys were 5* that didn' do anything here and certainly never won a game for us. Ther'es also guys like richard samuel who weren't complete dogshit but certainly never lived up to their billing.

Eason is nowhere in the vicinity of being our biggest bust ever. Those guys above are ones I could just rattle off from memory, there's no telling how many highly acclaimed guys fizzled out so bad that we don't even remember their names.

lol

No...Richt's job was to win college football games for UGA. His job, as an employee of UGA, was not to help them with their pro prospects. By that logic guys like DJ Shockley or DGreene would be considered a failure on Richt's part which couldn't be farther from the truth.

That is the job discreption but it wasn't the plan. To win, you pack in as many highly regarded QBs as you can and let them compete.....

To develop, see Raiola at Nebraska, he was annointed.... Rest of the players are then captive to QB play.

You’re incorrectly framing the argument as “5 stars” that fizzled.

But not all 5 stars are equal. You have to factor in HYPE when calculating bust magnitude. The larger the hype component, the larger the potential bust denominator

No Georgia QB has ever had the level of hype as early and as bizarrely and at the ludicrous levels that Eason had. This absurd hype level inflated him to approximately a 17 star

The rest is just basic algebra :

17 stars x Lost job to true freshman + Transfer home w/ tail between legs - 4th rnd draft pick x practice squad = THE BIGGEST QB BUST IN UGA HISTORY

Honestly Fields is the highest rated recruit ever, but Eason was unanimous but his dad knew Richt and wanted him to develop his son.

The hype and fawning over Eason when he was a junior in homeschool high school was very very uncomfortable. It never made any sense.

I ve never followed recruiting but you couldn’t escape the circus around this one , and the bizarre infatuation and crush that a many grown Georgia fan had for that dude. It was very gross

Outside of the first round of playoffs, it’s been a well above average bowl season so far. Lots of melters

I can’t believe the refs allowed Bilema to do that with his subs. When he was just flaunting it they should’ve flagged him for delay of game. No way you should be able to jog guys out there and run the play clock out.
