And? They won their conference. If we’d do that this thread wouldn’t exist. Trying to backdoor into the playoffs with 2 losses and no conference championship is not going to happen. Muh good losses
Give it a rest

It comes down to taking care of business and winning your games. Doesn’t matter if we lose a close game; we still lost the game. If we win, we are in. Losing matters. It might matter more or less depending on what other teams do, but it matters all the same. If we win, we don’t have to worry about getting a spot.

Congratulations on losing the argument.
Clemson defeated the mighty 7-5 Pittsburgh Panthers to win their conference last season, and the all powerful Virginia Cavaliers. Meanwhile Georgia had to play the #1 team two years in a row, add that on top of already a much more difficult schedule.
If the committee thinks that Georgia is the #4 team before conference championships, how does losing a game to the #1 team make them worse then the #5 or 6 team? It doesn’t, and they know it, everyone with any comprehension understands it.

Read what you just wrote. People bring up the South Carolina loss, ok, well how come Georgia was #4 team in spite of that loss? So then losing to the #1 team proves Oklahoma is better?
Wrong.

There you go with defending the stupid “auto drop with a loss” idea.
That Idea would make sense if we played ou head to head for a playoff spot, or we both had to beat top 2 teams to get in, but that’s not how cfb works.

Glad we agree. Win your conference and you’re in most of the time. Lose 2 games and you won’t be in the playoffs

Another flaw of Cfb. When you lose shouldn’t matter.

Obviously there is more to it than that, but because there are so many teams and so many conferences and everyone doesn’t play everyone else, you have to consider the fact that some teams take care of business and others don’t.

Seems to be more of an entitlement issue you have which would have benefited us in 2018 but might not in the future.

quote:It does matter because teams generally get better over the course of the season. Losing the first game isn’t as serious (usually) as losing the last game due to the assumption that the teams are getting better, and losing earlier provides the timing for redemption that losing later doesn’t provide.

But if you ignore how well uga played bama and ou didn’t have to play a team even close to as good as bama, you are choosing to not use your brain. That’s what the voters did. They were cowardly and Kirk correctly called them out.

This is UCLA that we are talking about.

Big name. Great trip for fans. They just happen to suck right now.
In case you forgot, we have them on our schedule.

Thinking we deserved to get in this year is one of the dumbest fakes I’ve seen on this board.

I didnt forget.
Does that make them a better team? That they get to share the field with UGA in the future?

No doubt

Agree to disagree.
They are 99th in all time wins behind Vandy.
8 teams in the Pac 10 have more wins than UCLA.

Every decade, they have a season better than UGAs worst one. They just happen to have a decent year every decade. Not much different than a Vandy.

quote:As a UGA fan, I would've preferred that we got in over Oklahoma, but Oklahoma in 2017 was really good and the 2018 was good, too (it's not like they sucked and didn't deserve consideration). They were 11-1 going into the conference championship and they won their game when they needed to. We were also 11-1 going into our conference championship and we lost when we needed to win.
But if you ignore how well uga played bama and ou didn’t have to play a team even close to as good as bama, you are choosing to not use your brain. That’s what the voters did. They were cowardly and Kirk correctly called them out.
The fact of the matter is that we shouldn't be arguing over whether or not we should be able to back in to the playoffs when we lose while other teams win when they have to to earn their way in. You can disagree with the result of the selection of Oklahoma over us but you can't deny that there was a logical reason why they were selected while we weren't.

It was illogical because they thought uga was better than ou before the bama game, and nothing about that bama game made that idea appear to be wrong. It was a decision devoid of any critical thought. As a cfb fan, that’s what Kirk concluded, and he was right.
