Not sure how I feel about handing out rings for winning your division but not your conference.
The Braves don't get rings for winning their division, do they? A banner or something is perfectly acceptable, but rings should be for real championships.

Well given that the SECCG was pretty much the national title game this year, think of it kind of like a silver medal.

I get that, and I'm not necessarily against rewarding the players like that.
I just don't want to be like USCe and hand out rings for moral victories.

I disagree, a banner is worse. A banner is on display for all the world to see, saying "look everyone, we won the SEC east!" If anything shows an attitude of settling or mediocrity or whatever else you wanna call it, it's a banner. Hell, ole miss hangs an 03 SEC West banner and they didn't even play in Atlanta. A ring on the other hand is personal. It's given to the players who actually played and competed and achieved that division win. That's something they'll have their whole lives to look back and be proud of.
I don't really have a problem with the rings..the only reason it's getting so much pub is because of the players posting pics of them.

Banner or no, I those rings are pretty gaudy for a division championship. I'm sure they cost a pretty penny, too. Like I said, I'll leave the moral victory celebrations to USCe.

The players on the Braves are making millions of dollars. Giving broke college kids nice rings when most of them won't have a pro career is completely fine.

To me, it has nothing to do with whether the players are paid or not. It's just my opinion, but I don't think the bling-rings should be handed out for anything less than a championship. If the goal is to reward broke college players, they might as well start handing those out in the spring for most improved walk-on or something like that.

shite like this is exactly what is wrong with society today. "Oh well geez guys we really tried hard!" IDGAF if it was a National Semi or whatever makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside, the fact is WE DIDN'T WIN THE GAME thus making this ring an abomination. Bottom line is that rings, trophies, etc. are intended to be used to celebrate greatness not "almost great".

Wrong. I started a thread which unsuccessfully tried to have a few laughs at USC's expense. It was sOmeone else that brought up how my humble theory was piggy-backed on by Deadspin and several other outlets.
