Georgia signed Tre Shields who is basically an unknown on the recruiting sites.

One of the staff members that I talked with over the weekend called him a true "Diamond in the Rough." (Same build as George Pickens)

Only played one year of football at Flowery Branch but the coach, Michael Perry, provided this quote:

“He would have been one of the top receiver prospects in the country,” Perry said on Sunday morning. “He’s that good.

Kirby didn't hesitate on Tre at all.
Sounds like a true sleeper!

...if what? He's played longer? I'm unfamiliar so genuinely asking.

He is in the class of 2026 after only playing one year of high school football.

Apparently his catch radius is off of the charts.

I think recruiting services have jumped the old shark, plenty of kids can ball that aren't in well covered areas of the country others pick up the game later....

Hopefully he skipped the "complete head case" part of the build.

I'll take that head case if it comes with the same skill set.

Pickens definitely has some screws loose, but he never got in trouble off the field and was one of the hardest workers in practice.

Earned legendary DGD status when he tore his ACL in spring practice in the season before he was supposed to go to the NFL. Wouldn't have faulted him for leaving school and recovering and training for the Combine in Arizona. But instead he came back just in time to help us break the natty streak. Until he gets arrested for something horrific and stupid, I'll always vouch for Pickens.

Pickens was scrappy and tenacious but never an off field problem.. The tech ejection was on the refs not getting the gnat off him in a reasonable time.
