Agree. Probably the best measure was the WKU win over Vandy, 14-12; Georgia beat Vanderbilt 31-14. So yea, I do feel we should have been ranked over WKU.

Please don't misunderstand. I didn't mean to come off as rude, although I can see where it may have sounded that way. And, as many have pointed out....it really doesn't matter. But I have always been one to fight for respect....when deserved. We may not have been very good, but I feel like we were better than WKU, and I still think we could have beaten, or given NW a good game. However, red&black made a good point about them having beaten 3 Top 25 teams.

WKU beat... Vandy? And lost to Indiana and LSU.
I guess you could make the case that we should be higher than them but I don't think it really matters.

Does any ranking matter if you don't end up #1? In reality, no. But when you earn something you should get it. And I can promise you it matters to the players that worked hard all year preparing for the season. Any sign of respect they can get matters to them.

I disagree wholeheartedly. It's a fluid ranking that changes week to week, as it's supposed to. You can't look after week 15 and say "oh, well they were ranked [X] after week 3, man were they wrong!" You/we now have all the facts, in week 3 we only had 3 weeks' worth of facts.
After week 5 we were still in the top 10, and deservedly so, because we were undefeated including a 30 point shellacking over a team that at the time nobody knew would end up sucking. We were ranked accordingly. Then, as we continued to lose and continued to look bad, we continued to drop in the rankings. As we should have.
This whole "UGA is always overrated" thing is massively overblown.

Week 7 - lost Chubb. Season over in Week 6

Y'all can argue WKU but northwestern absolutely deserves to be ranked ahead of Georgia. They'd most likely have beaten Georgia

Agree to disagree with that. I know you've had a 5 year hard on for ole Pat but we would've handled Northwestern by a couple of scores. And don't misunderstand me, I had zero confidence in anything this team did this year.

I would guess that another factor is Tennessee and Florida barely making the cut. Losing to both (and handily to UF) would make it hard to slot us in there. Oh well.

Agree with this. Without a quality/proven QB and good OL, in retrospect you can't say Georgia ever deserved to be ranked in the top 10. Lambert looked good vs overrated SC but that's about it. He probably would have been serviceable with a solid OL but with our OL we needed a Deshaun Watson level QB to have an offense equal to our defense.

Maybe. Maybe not. I think Chubb made a big, BIG difference. You can survive losing a Chubb when you have a decent QB. But we just didn't.

Because Patty Fitz is the truth. No way, we lose that game something like 9-6. That defense is legit. Well, the bowl game fricks it up but i can't see how y'all think we'd blow them out. We blew out a SWAC team and that's it. We'd be lucky to hit 17, it required Hack going down and PSUs offense stalling for us to have enough chances to score 24

That's the key, though. I THINK most of us felt like we were a Top 10 team when Chubb was runnning the ball. MOST felt we had a chance going into the Alabama game. rankings are based on feelings and recent erformance. At the point in the season we were ranked there it wasn't fluff, but a feeling for where we belonged relative to other teams. When we found out we were not as good as we thought, we dropped.
I may be misunderstanding you, though. By fluff I took it you meant we were over ranked and given too much credit. I always felt AT THE TIME we were ranked where we should have been ranked. Nobody can see the future, so you have to rank teams to what you know about them. Does this make sense?
I typically agree with everything you post, so I might just be misunderstanding you.

So, those are the 4 that you are basing your "we should be ranked" argument on? Should tell you all you need to need to know right there. All of those teams except GSU were bad teams. We lost to the only decent teams we played. Badly to 2 of them.
