But the critizism of the Montana State kid is he wasnt physical enough.

Playing as a top draft pick in D1AA ball should have made him look like the most physical human on earth.

Physicality isnt learned in the nfl.

I'm not a falcons fan and rarely ever keep up wtih them beyond surface level. My falcons friends for years have talked abotu how utterly shitty they are at drafting, and many of my uga fans have a running joke taht falcons refuse to draft UGA players. This year I paid a little closer attnetion (to the first part, not really the second) and was left scratchign my head

-In round 1 pick 8 they've pretty much got their pick of the litter. They go WR which is cool, but they pick probably teh worst WR of the bunch. All those Ohio State guys are inifnitley better IMO than london, who appears to basicdally be a better Javon Wims. In today's spread out, wide open NFL, it's perplexing you'd draft a slow footed big body jump ball WR instead of a speedy do it all guy.
-2nd round PSu guy. By all acounts this seems to be a good pick.
-montana state LB. Simply ridiculous. I don't care what type of metrics you want to come up with, there ain't no way in the history of hell that this white LB from montana state is a better LB than nakobe dean. None whatseover.
-Ridder...meh. Do you really think this guy is gonna lead you to the playoffs? Mariota is a stopgap for now but why take rideder at this pick when you can get an equally servficable QB later on?

At that point and onward I lose interest but pretty much all but 1 of their first handful of picks were kinda head scratching to an impartial, uninformed observer.

He's a project. I didn't like the pick because it is solely based on athletic upside that may never be reached.

I think he has only played LB for one year and was a first team FCS All-American, so there's that. One of the radio guys on 680 put it better than I could. They swung for a home run when they need singles and doubles. I think the hope is for Andersen to turn into what Darius Leonard has become for Indianapolis.

I like what Brooks Austin said.
Top 18 picks in the draft, you swing for the home run. Even misses are 5-10 year guys.
From pick 19+, take the sure thing. Dont get cute. Make the team better.

Outside of that sentiment, i still dont know if the Falcons are 1 gapping (which would explain a 245 pound linebacker) or 2 gapping (which would make the snub on Nakobe Dean a firable offense)

Insider secret here: the Falcons don’t know either.
