The future is indeed looking bright for Bulldog Nation.

Hutson mason will be very good. Not that this means much but he holds pretty much every passing record in GHSA. The people who say he's another Joe Cox are truly idiots. Just because he won't start til his 5th year doesn't mean he's going to be a mediocre player. Did y'all say the same thing about Shock?

I was very high on Shock, myself. I would have liked to seen him get more time at the helm, for sure. But I was also always blasted for suggesting that he was likely better than the legend himself, David Greene.

I can't think of any scenario that should have taken significant snaps from Greene. We might have done that in 02, but shock got hurt against SC in the second game and wasn't really the same. Greene started the UF game 5/5 then shock came in and threw everything off, and threw a pick 6.

In 03 when Greene was hurt against LSU shock came in and looked as lost as a QB could possibly be.

In 04 when Greene got hurt against tech and shock played most of the game, he was dreadful, and we had to bring a hurt Greene back into the game to win.

However good a QB may be, he needs to sit if he's not ready yet.

I said he was better. I didn't say he should start over Greene (because you're right, Greene did nothing to warrant that).

The instances you mention were all less than ideal.

In the UF game, he should not have been inserted when Greene was running so hot. I agree there.

Against LSU, he threw all of two passes. Also, an away game in Baton Rouge is probably not the best way to start a kid. Greene threw TWO picks in that 7 point loss, btw.

Against Tech, that's about half the story. It was raining and at sub-freezing temps (my wife's jeans literally began FREEZING SOLID during that game). The stat line for both guys was pretty dismal:

Greene: 6/12 for 80 yards and 1 TD (no INTs)
Shockley: 5/16 for 112 yards and 1 TD (no INTs)

Shock did what he needed to do to win against Tech (because minus that TD he threw, we don't).

He's faster, stronger arm (not that Ramsey doesn't have a cannon of a arm), and more accurate. He's the better talent overall.

Not saying you are wrong, but you are basing this on facing High School competition. VERY difficult to say how accurate an arm a QB will have until they are going against high level college competition.

Even if he is though, he will have a better supporting cast.
