Not sure how these things make him un-American.

Depending on what "type" of Libertarian, it could make him a better conservative than most, a better liberal than most, or at worst a douchey idealist who makes sure that you're aware of it... based on the comments you quoted I'd lean towards either of the first 2...

quote:

-Is for abortion

This is the dumbest shite ever... no one is "pro-abortion"... I mean frick all babies and the human race right?

quote:

-Is for same sex marriage

Government should never have been in the business of authorizing marriages... if they'd stayed out of that, then individual churches would have been able to determine what is and isn't a valid marriage. Personally, I'm not certain why it rankles so many ultra conservatives what 2 dudes or 2 chicks call their relationship... it literally has zero impact on your life unless you make it about you.

quote:

-Is for gun control

define this "gun control"... I think in 2018 based on the number of school shootings we've had in the last 20 years alone, it's clear that "thoughts and prayers" aren't doing a fricking thing... I don't think I've ever heard Eastwood say anything about "taking away our guns" in a positive tone, so context might be relevant here.

quote:

-Is against war

Uh... if you're "pro-life" how the frick are you not also "against war"... not wanting to throw away lives in a worldwide policing game that we're seemingly determined to remain involved hardly seems "un-American"...

Haven't seen the movie... likely won't until it makes its way around to DVD as I just don't care that much, but this is just strange logic for trashing it. The part about the "actors" is a fair criticism, and ultimately it's a big part of why the movie was panned both by critics (21% on RT) and audiences (47% audience score) alike. But... to be fair, most action/drama flicks score pretty poorly anyways... people want more out of them than is there in many cases.

How was the acting? That’s my biggest concern with movies like that. Act of Valor comes to mind. Action sequences were good but dialogue was poor. Is this along those lines?

Considering the actual heroes played their own roles they did pretty good. I mean most of the movie is about them growing up into adulthood and just hanging out and having a good time. If you and your buddies hung out you wouldn't expect them to start acting like they are Hollywood stars right? I'm sure they acted just as they would have in real life, nothing special. As for the action scenes, they were pretty freaking intense.

Hollywood stars don't normally act like or play Hollywood stars in their roles.

Yes, but can they act. Were they able to deliver lines someone else wrote while also convey genuine emotion?

Well only one of the three was really enthusiastic but maybe that's just their personalities in real life?? It's hard to tell if they had trouble conveying emotion from scripted lines. I mean they played themselves so I can't give you an answer. I definitely wasn't blown away except for the action scenes.
