I can still watch the video on my youtube channel. It says something about listing the video as private. WOuld that help? And then I just list my channel name here?

Very bizarre to me. I understand copyright, but youtube is full of videos to copyrighted music.
Is there a way for me to attribute the music to the artist or something?

It's been a while since I've uploaded something, but you might be able to go into settings for that video and find a setting so that only people with the link can view it, ie. it isn't searchable for the general public that might be searching for that song.
I've done that before with youtube videos but for different purposes.
Give it a try.

Believe it or not, most videos on youtube with copyrighted music have an agreement set up.
Or, the copyright owner just doesn't give a shite.
No, attributing the artist is worthless. You see those all the time, people with disclaimers in the video description, totally pointless, and legally inaccurate in their intention.

One more pro tip:
Next time you want to put something together, make a 30 second video with just some movie maker text like test test test and have 30 seconds of the song overdubbed. Upload. Wait. See if it gets shitcanned.
If not, then go ahead and make your whole video.
