Currently ranked 4th overall (all classifications) in the state by max preps.I realize they've always been good and put out prospects but this year's team is ridiculous.Watched em beat Milton tonight.

BTYW the Christian Miller kid is a beast and I hope we land em in '22

Because for some weird reason Dekalb and Clayton always seem to get the best players in the county to go to one school. And that seems to rotate every so often.

I know Ellenwood is close to the boarder of Clayton.

So what others schools? MLK?

Do they just allow kids to go wherever they want between S Dekalb and Clayton?

You can start anywhere you want as a freshman and be eligible.

Edit: most schools just take your word that you've actually moved and will believe whatever you say. Only a handful of schools will actually check to see if you live where you say you're living.

They're in the Southwest Dekalb area, and parents don't want their kids going to other nearby schools.

It it isn't a charter HS but are they still allowed to have open enrollment like Marietta or Buford? And it's still a relatively small school.

They're obviously stacking athletes over rhere How else could a AAA public school be ranked 4th in all classification
ranking? No other school of that size is remotely near the top 25 schools

I'm assuming many of those athletes should be going to SW Dekalb or MLK Jr.

Well yeah. It's the same way most dominant schools get their kids. I assume it's like Cobb County where if they have space at the school you can go there as a freshman and then become automatically eligible but you have to provide your own ride. Or maybe they move into the district later on which is also completely legal if done the right way. Kids want to play for a winner. Sometimes winning attracts the kids and sometimes there are outside influences.

And Clayton kids are going over there as well?

I get what you're saying but it's still seems like an usual situation just because it's 4 classifications below schools like Grayson and have just as many prospects

It's somewhat of a recent phenomenon for em.

I don't know if Clayton kids are or not. They may be. They probably use a false address if that's the case. Allatoona had some players who lived in Paulding County when they won it all in 2016. It's not against GHSA rules to where you start. It's a district rule.

It's the same thing SWD used to do. I'm pretty sure a lot the coaches come from that tree as well. It's a good school compared to a lot those nearby, and parents in the area want kids there. The administration allows everyone - not just football players - to enroll if they can at least technically "meet requirements", and administration tends look the other way (or even help out) because they're not in the business of forcing kids into shitty schools.

Also, there are other way parents in Dekalb can move their kids into different schools. It's so easy that I'm not sure how much the county cares where kids come from.

There's obviously more to it, but it's been like for decades and it's not at all a secret. Nobody's going to change it.

I'll take your word for it but SWD had a pretty rich tradition going back to Jack Lindsay and the 70's.

They're not? Dekalb county has shitty schools everywhere especially in the Central and South areas.Heck,I live in the Lakeside district and it's no where near the school it used to be.Same with Tucker right down the road.

So why isn't Cedar Grove a bigger school if it's one of better schools in the area and they have defacto open enrollment? SWD and MLK are still 2 classifications bigger.

Who said it's a better school? It's a better football program for sure. Also, the school itself may not be built to be the same size as SWD or MLK>

Cool, I missed that part. Still doesn't mean they have the same size parameters as the other two you listed.

Could be and I'm sure you've seen schools all over metro Atlanta expand/remodel with growing enrollment and some places it might
not be possible.

I know Lakeside HS is bursting at the seams with enrollment and at the limi of enrollment but they're a 7A school
