The word megabytes means more space/speed depending on what it's use for.In your situation it means both and yes it has a lot to do with the cable, So your getting a good deal on that 18 megabytes deal. That means your getting more for both for the same price as a 12 or 15 meg. That's dam good.

How I know I work for AT&T U-Verse.

I have it. The DVR system is awesome. I am moving and might not be able to get it. Very upset

Had it in Kennesaw for over two years - love it. The only way I'd switch away is for Verizon's FIOS, or a comparable service.

The no-CSS does indeed suck, but the games we have that are broadcast on CSS are the cupcakes. We just go over to the mother-in-law's to watch those since she refuses to leave Comcast. Having moved over from Comcast, I will say that the U-Verse On Demand (for free movies, etc) does leave a bit to be desired. I got a Roku 2 XS for Christmas, so the Hulu/Netflix/Vudu/Amazon Prime offerings more than make up for that.

Do they have local sports channels? Like css and fss?

FSS, yes. CSS, no because it's a Comcast channel which you have to have Comcast to get it.

They have had to come out on a couple occasions but overall I'm pleased with them.

Must be a cable exclusive type deal then. But regardless Uverse (and Direct TV), does not offer CSS.

There's an honor among thieves agreement between Charter and Comcast that lets other cable companies subscribe to CSS. Interestingly enough, Comcast SportsNet California is included in the HD premium tier. Just in case you can't get enough of the Cal Golden Bears...
