I'm a big fan of Springfield Armory, I have an XD-40 and I like the 40 caliber over the 9mm. I like 1911's but they are expensive and finicky about the ammo and must be kept clean.

As I said earlier my wife is a pharmacist. Two of her stores have been robbed at gun point. Thankfully she was off those days.
She got into this career to help people and now she feels she HAS to carry. It's pretty fricked and I hate it for her.

To Germandawg, a few points:
1. I guess you never heard the phrase, I would rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it. The premise that it always happens to someone else isn't always true.
2. There are three types of people in the world, Sheep, Sheepdogs and Wolves. The sheep like to pretend that wolves don't exist until they show up at their doorstep. Then, all of the sudden, they are looking for the sheepdogs, those scary bad men that carry guns, to come save them. What happens if they are not around? Standard response time for any 911 call can be around 10 minutes depending on your location. After that much time, if things go bad, the police are an after action clean up / investigative unit. They aren't going to save you. That doesn't help you and yours any.
So rather than looking down on those that decide to carry, why don't you just say thank you.
