I may be late to the party, but is the recruiting for the OL down on purpose or is Luke not as good of a recruiter?

Luke isn’t the recruiter Pittman is, but I also think he’s looking for a slightly more athletic body type than the typical massive molds, so less emphasis on stars and more emphasis on fit.

According to people who know more than me, it was always going to be a year to recruit "developers" vs top talent due to our depth chart. We missed on a couple of our big targets though.

Pittman is literally a God in the Oline World. He is the best there is.

We do more pulling and trapping now, so he wants more fit guys.

Still in it for 4* OG Ernest Green though. He’s expected to pick UGA but will it be tomorrow or Feb signing day?

Last I heard Green is trending in the wrong direction.

Yes, this would be a hard year to sign a 5*, day one starter when you have Jones, Mims, Van Pran, Ratledge, McClendon, etc.

Looks like he would be a great get. Looking at top choices UGA, Bama, Ohio State, Texas....

WR and OL are both lacking in elite players this cycle in UGA’s current class.

There's some truth in that. It was going to be tough to pull elite OL this cycle and we whiffed on our top WR except Morrisette. I think Speer will surprise some people though.

He was expected to come here for a while, but Alabama is thought to be in the lead now. We are trying to make headway, though.

It's not just that the OL's arne't "elite", though to be fair there are two of them in the top50 at the position, it's that we've only got 3 commits.

Of your 22 starting positions on the field, five of them are OL. 23%.

Only having 3 in a signing class of 25 is 12%, half of what you field, just to have enough warm bodies, regardless of their star rankings.

Didn't we just flip Chandler Smith from Florida? A 4* and one of the fastest players in the country. Arian Smith type but a little bigger.

Well, in that regard, we did take on one big project: The tackle from outside Nashville (Jacob Hood) is listed at 6-8, 345 to be nice but allegedly weighs nearer to 360. On his film, he looks like a giant tossing people down. Get him down to 325-330 and who knows.

That other tackle from IMG (can't remember his name) is a 4* and looks extremely mean, FWIW. Respectable prospect.
