My only concern about Saturday’s game against OHIO State

No one has mentioned this, but we got a PAC 12 crew officiating the game. If you ever watch the games out west you will notice that they are very reluctant to throw a flag for holding. Seriously, you will see some blatant holding going on in the PAC 12 and you will not see a flag. It’s part of their culture and why you will see shootouts.

A PAC 12 crew benefits Ohio State, and VEGAS knows this to be the case. It’s why that line has barely moved even though there is heavy money on Georgia. I’m just putting it out there guys. But the only way Ohio State stays in this game is by neutralizing our D-line (especially up the middle) so that Stroud can have a clean pocket to step up and throw the ball deep giving his WR a puncher’s chance.

But what do I know….

Hope the defensive staff remembers to blitz. Also hope Kirby isn't stubborn if our man to man style isn't working early.

They also don't call holding as often on DBs.
Advantage us.

So, is it better to get away with holding the WR or holding the DL? Is it a wash?

I would rather the officials just call the holding regardless. If it is being done, call it.

Just thinking..

We know teams watch game tape. Any chance officiating crews watch game tape of teams like this? These are teams they have never officiated.. Do they look at tendencies, etc?

If there's heavy money on Georgia and the line hasn't moved, that means there's heavy money on Ohio State to counter it.

Also, Pac 12 people aren't very happy with the Big 10 because they poached USC and UCLA. I can't imagine Pac 12 refs will be lining up to do Ohio State any favors.

Sounds a lot like the Tennessee game.

As an official, we absolutely watch film. Both to critique ourselves and to see team's tendencies.

Georgia was actually favored by 10 when that game kicked off. If you want to know which way the pros are leaning, watch the point spread in the last hour or two leading up to kickoff tomorrow night.

Leaning on the spread?
Or on the money line?

Point spread, although they tend to go hand in hand.

You're right. Then IIRC it went down to 8 1/2 and stayed there despite most of the money going on UT.

It spiked to 10 in the hour before kickoff. There were more bets placed on Tennessee, but more money was bet on Georgia. In other words, casual bettors who bet smaller amounts were all over Tennessee, and there are a lot more of them than pro bettors. Pro bettors were on Georgia but they were betting significantly larger sums of money on Georgia. The pros will usually wait until right before kickoff to place their big money bets.

General rule of thumb is % of bets placed tell you where the public is leaning. % of money wagered tells you where the pros are leaning.

Doesn't make sense.
They are completely irrelevant to one another.

Really? You can't figure out that a larger point spread will almost always correlate with higher odds on the moneyline? Some books will have them priced a little differently, but the moneyline odds are not going to be the same in a game with a 3 point spread as they would in a game with a 10 point spread.

Are you talking odds or picks?

Those are 2 different things.

I can be more confident in a UGA win than I can a UGA 7 point win.
Odds don't change that.

Line just dropped to 4.5. Should we be worried?

I’d expect a lot of money coming in in Georgia and bring the line up to 6
