In the quarterback world, a properly executed spot throw leaves the QBs hand before the break.
The other way is to rely on armstrength to make up for not getting the ball out soon enough. Stafford was guilty of this early in his career and it created a lot of drops.

Because it was a spot route and the threw it to where Burton was supposed to settle in at.
I've seen people excuse that throw for that reason and I know Kirby said it wasnt his fault. I get that the WR was supposed to stop there, but when I watch it, the WR is obviously still running inside before Dwan even begins his throw, so I think even though the WR was wrong it was still a pretty bad throw.

I hear you. Like I said in the other post, it was both of their faults. Not a perfect throw and the WR didn't find the spot.

That's where the play was going from the start IMO. A vet goes through his reads if the receiver makes that mistake and sends the ball somewhere else - or just runs.
That's Stetson's biggest advantage. If someone else fails to execute he mitigates with decision making. How confident are coaches that we won't see similar breakdowns?
Although Mathis can mitigate with athleticism, he still needs to be able to decide in the moment when to use that athleticism.

That mitigation comes with experience unfortunately. I feel like this thread has some good points all around, and I never said I prefer any qb over the next, I just feel like Kirby started him in the last game for a reason, and will do it again.

Make sense. I don't disagree, but I'm close to 50/50.

If you are unwilling to start Stetson than Kirby lied to him to get him to come back....

If he’s looking the same put daniels in.
UGA doesn’t have time for him to do that against Auburn.

Do we know what Kirby promised him or are you just speaking out of your arse again?

So Kirby's pitch to Stetson was, skip the other offer, comeback to GA and I will over look you for starter after saving our asses vs Arkansas.

So you were just speaking out your arse again. Got it.

Nah, people just like to accuse other people of what they are doing...

You're making assumptions and trying to pass them off as facts.

Fact- we don't waste scholarships on kids that can't start...
I guess we will see who starts vs Auburn

Fact. You don't know what Kirby promised him. Stop passing it off like you do. H felt he wasn't given a shot to be the back up and left. That's all that we know. Stop acting like you do.

Sure we do, he came back didn't he.... Instead of going to Louisiana.

No, we don't. Maybe Kirby promised him a shot to start. Maybe he said he'd be given a shot to be the back up. He came here the first time turning down other scholarship offers. You're assuming Kirby made a promise to start him and trying to pass it off as fact. The only fact is we don't know what was promised/discussed.

Fact, Stetson said he left because he knew he would not be given a Shot at Georgia. His words.
He came back after a call from Smart and Coley.
Flipping through all the old press and many an NFL guy spoke glowingly of him while ga. Lorenzo Carter said they Stet' made him look stupid and Isiah Wilson said he was a One in a lifetime qb...

Your “facts” are wrong again. He left because he felt Fields was handed the #2 slot even though he out played him. That’s straight from his mouth in interviews. Nothing about getting a shot to start.
And I’m not debating how good he is. Just that you are stating things as fact when you don’t actually know.

Your splitting hairs, the #2 would now be the number 1. He was playing for back up of Fromm as a walk on. I would expect him to expect more having been heavily chased to come back as a scholarship player.
No one knows what anyone is promised but when you leave and the coach and oc beg you back, it a safe assumption you were promised something...
On top of that, I have never in all my years seen a walk-on spoken of so positively by so many players and coaches.
