Part time offense and part time defense.

It's weird. He's obviously a talented player. What the double-duty tells me is that the coaches believe there is a serious weakness on both sides of the ball in those positions, or they would just commit him to one. Like Donnan did with Champ Bailey.

I put him as a full time defensive player used w/ some gimmicks on offense.

What that tells me is that Rambo is playing and commings moves to corner. Which means MM can go back to offense.

Yes Yes!!! I hope that's what it means.

Good to see you here, Swin.

Mixed emotions about Mitchell playing both ways. Though Mitchell has gotten burned in coverage, I think we need him worse on defense than offense. I would like to see him focus more on coverage but I guess the coaches see too much potential on offense. Hope it works out. We are going to need all the help we can get against that UT passing attack.

Right now, MM helps us more at WR. With him at WR, it really takes out offense to another level.

Swinford,
Serious question: What side of the ball is he likely to play in the NFL?

I get the feeling from transcripts of interviews with both coordinators that Bobo desperately wants him back, but that Grantham refuses. Based on the fact that he is still on defense suggests to me that Richt has sided with Grantham. Wonder how all this will affect team dynamic when the other guys come back. You could justify the move with suspended players and Bobo probably gave in to that idea. Just not sure how Bob's ego is gonna hold up going forward.
Holy hell that was longer than intended. Thoughts?

Branden smith isn't a good cover corner IMO. Just really fast.

I have noticed the same which worries me with Bray/UT coming up this weekend.

Leave him on defense. We have WRs. We will need him next year on d.

No the hell it doesnt. DEFENSE WINS CHAMPIONSHIPS. That is what this team has set out to do right? Or did I miss something. MM26 is the best cover corner we have on the team. Boo Boo will only get him hurt. Leave him with Grantham and let him help this team win and work his way into a 1st round draft pick.

Put him and TK on either side and I dare the defense to stack the box and leave their DBs one on one with no over the top help....

Put him on defense and that gives us the best chance at keeping the other teams WRs at bay. Marlon Brown is having a huge first part of the year. Why take touches away from him? Even if MM26 is faster or more of a deep threat. Our offense is fine.
