Obviously I was trolling and got 80% of the board to bite since the same thread had been posted literally 3 days before this one. So sorry for the emotional distress that I have caused you good sir.

Exactly, this is the part of the whole saga that makes absolutely no sense at all. Even if his parents are dumber than a box of rocks, I'm sure that they would have had at least one encounter with someone at some point throughout this well publicized ordeal suggest that they take the doctor to court. I am no law expert, but this leads me to believe that they have absolutely no grounds to sue the doctor, hence why they are trying to go after the NCAA.

This is short-sighted gibberish. It actually makes perfect sense..............

Physicians are not bound by the whims and fancies of the NCAA rule-mongering committee. There are MANY treatments available to doctors....that are not "legal" under NCAA guidelines.

Sorry.

True, but that's not the grounds on which they would sue. It's my understanding (correct me if I'm wrong) that

A) Houston was unknowingly given a steroid injection, and
B) it was administered incorrectly.

Seems like he could sue based on scenario A alone. If A is true, then the doctor would've had to either lie or use deceit. Like "hey this is just a vitamin shot." Or maybe Houston received the injection while he was zonked out, and the doctor never told either him or the parents about the injection.

Usually doctors are very forthcoming about their procedures; it seems unlikely the family would've been left in the dark about a steriod shot. But at the same time, he injected the shot in the fat instead of the muscle. I mean, isn't that like day 1 of medical school? So he probably is a total idiot. Maybe he graduated from The Marijuana Medical School of Ya Mon down in Jamaica. At any rate, I suspect the parents can't actually prove they didn't know about the shot, or they would've sued him by now.

I do think the kid should play, however. It's just that this particular part of the story doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

I see where your coming from. I'm not going to pretend to know all the specifics, but.... It just seems to me, that the doctor did his job. If the shot was full of something he made in his garage and it caused the kid's arm to fall off, then sure.... sue him. But, he didn't do that. He gave the kid something, that as far as I know, is used frequently for that exact shoulder situation. If he accidentally injected it into some fat, then so what? It's not like it had any negative side-effect health-wise.

To me, this whole thing boils down to the stupidity and arrogance of the rule-mongerers. The types of people who grow up and take jobs at the NCAA or any other governing body, just so that they can make the rules.....and wag their fingers at people.....they live for situations like this. They fricking love it! These weasels have power over this kid's future, and deep down they fricking LOVE IT.

It's disgusting to me.

I hope the Houston's and their lawyers make the NCAA's life very uncomfortable for a while......

I don't understand why the SEC doesn't give the NCAA the collective finger. Must be a $ issue.

At this point in my life, I am stress free ... the reason I can spend jibber jabbering with you.
