Source tells us Scott Cochran isn't the UA staffer most likely to follow Smart to Georgia. Better chance that LB coach Tosh Lupoi follows.

I would hesitate to give that much credence. Very few followers. They could have a source but I doubt that Twitter handle would be he one to break news like that.

He's the OC of one of the worst programs in football. Sure, he could be great, but I think it is a risk. Plus, their (southern miss) brand is horrible. I don't think he would bring much to the table recruiting wise. I could be completely wrong. There is just a lot of other guys I would rather see at that position:
Sanford @ ND
Meacham @ TCU
Yurcich @ Okie State
Jeff Scott or Tony Elliot @ Clemson

Aren't they in a bowl? Or do you mean the program as a whole? I like Sanford but I think Meacham is too spread for what Kirby described as his Offensive gameplan. Eason is who he went to see and I don't think he could sell Eason on being Boykin. Why would the Clemson guys want to leave a team that's 12-0? What ties does the Okie State guy have to the South? I'm just engaging discussion, not meant to be argumentative or anything. I would be very happy with someone who has proven they can score points and lead a QB. The Defense is going to be so frickin' good I believe that the Offense just needs to be solid(a la Bama)

Not sharing the position could be appealing to Clemson guys. That, and Athens is an easier sell than Clemson.
Not sure if okie state coordinator has ties to south but he has been very successful with 2 and three star talent. I don't think being "southern" is that important. If they can produce a dynamic offense and sell the program, I will be happy.

At this stage the dominoes are falling. Nothing we can do but wait it out and hope for the best. I want Pruitt/ Rocker to stay but will survive if they are not retained. I want an OC that brings in Eason but have become just about indifferent to where he lands. I really want him, and think we land him, but our program will not hinge on where an 18 year old enrolls next month.
....now next year could very well hinge on that. But so be it.

ELLIOT: DO NOT frickING WANT... His offense is SOLELY dependent on a mobile QB and a good one at that. His offense is based off of Chad Morris's scheme, and he shares the load with Jeff Scott. Sorry... UGA and CKS can do better and will.

So tired of hearing how unimportant an 18 year old is to the program. Herschel was an 18 year old once. Think it would have made a difference if he had flipped to UF. I agree that you never know how a recruit will pan out. But based on what we have seen from Eason, we should care very much where this 18 year old plays ball.

We NEED a fricking QB...

In regard to coaches being retained, I think this post from another board pretty much nails it.
Anyway, Brown went on the road with Smart tonight. He's the only one I expect to be retained.

i don't see a way you can come in and preach about an entirely new and difficult/extreme process and keep the same staff. i know Rocker was good, BMac was good, etc. Pruitt is my favorite coach (on the field) we've had in a LONG time. but if Kirby feels like he needs to bring in new guys to get HIS process started, then I'm good with that.
you can't fire a 10 wins a season a coach, keep his entire staff, just make a change at the top, and expect that to make a difference. that's making a change just for the hell of it.
so yes, sentimentally i want to keep a few coaches. if i'm looking at this as chasing a championship, then wholesale changes almost have to be made.

Pruitt and Rocker were never the problem. They were brought into this dumpster fire and were beginning to change the D into something special. KS needs to try and keep both these guys.

No one is saying they were the problem. Smart should still hire the staff he wants.

Maybe I'm crazy, but I'm almost more bullish about wanting to keep rocker than I am pruitt. Rocker isn't the one with the bad attitude, but is of equal coaching acumen, imo.

KS is the head swinging dick. If shite hits the fan, it is his arse. He needs to have the reigns to bring in whoever he wants. If that means complete overhaul, so be it

Am I the team only one who wants Coach E back? I just love his intensity.

I like Ekeler but don't want anybody back that Smart doesn't want here.
