South Carolina is a little different. That was more of a case of a freshman QB having a bad game.
True. I wonder why, all of a sudden. Wind? maybe. Nerves? That loud techno music and white towel waving can be a little intimidating. Either way, we should have run South Carolina out of the stadium. 14 points was deceiving. That return on the onside kick, and all.

Vanderbilt, Missouri, and Nicholls legitimately whipped Georgia's OL physically.
And here is where I go against popular feelings. Those teams sold out to stop the run. They stacked the box and keyed on our tailbacks. Eason had very good games. they dared us to run and said, if you are going to beat us, you will have to do it with a freshman QB. The other games? They came after Easons's good passing games, and I think they played us normal. They did not stack the box as much and played us straight on. We did what we do best and ran the ball.
That's my guess. I have no broken down the film.....but it seems when we have one good passing game, then one good run game and it is consistently up and down like that....just seems logical to me. that's why I have defended our OL a bit more than some.
It's just a theory.

Vanderbilt and Missouri actually just had better players in their front 7
Not so sure about Vanderbilt. Missouri...maybe. They are both defensive teams, so you might be right. It could just be as simple as what you said.

I have a lot of theories!

I've been reading some of these posts and wanted to jump in to note that our (the Arkansas) O-line for this year certainly isn't what it was the last few seasons. We lost three starters from last season LINK so it has been a patchwork affair this year with personnel being moved around. We really saw no run blocking to speak of until the last game despite having good RB's and many of us had the same concerns with our O-line as some of the UGA fans on here had about the O-line on your team. And of course if the O-line can't run block then having great RB''s doesn't help much.
On pass blocking they were pushed around pretty good by Alabama and aTm. Most of us think they've still got quite a bit of work to do and I don't think I'd say they are top tier this year by any means. LINK

Arkansas usually has some great OLines. But, it isn't because they had high recruiting ratings. it is something else.
Blocking scheme?
Coaching?
Hard work?
All of the above?
I don't know the answer. What I do know is our OL problems are more due to a lack of coaching and blocking scheme (which in some ways goes back to coaching) We are trying to ask our OL to change from a zone blocking scheme to a road paving, power scheme, and they have not done it....or they have been unable to do it. They also are getting confused as to who to block in this newer blocking scheme. they are not picking up the LB's when they crash the middle.
Talent really isn't the problem so much as understanding what to do and when to do it. Hopefully when we get a new group of guys working with the new coaches this will ease up a bit.

No way we lose by more than 42.

Never say never.
Regardless of whatever transitive property bullshite you want to conjure up, the Hawgs would beat our arse.

I'm not looking for a fight, but I am curious. What have you seen in our team that would suggest we could beat Arkansas? I mean, they've lost 3 games, I get that, and we've lost 3 games....but they lost to Texas A&M, Auburn and Alabama.
We lost to Vanderbilt, Ole Miss and Tennessee. The worst team they lost to is better than the best team we lost to. I guess an argument could be made that Tennessee is better than Auburn...but Auburn is looking pretty darn good right now.

Gus might join Steve and hang 50 on us in Sanford this year.

Their offense is definitely hitting on all cylinders right now. Granted, they still can't throw the ball, but they are definitely running the ball, and their front 7 is crushing everybody.

Auburn has the highest rated passer in the sec.

Because none of that shite matters at all. The only thing that matters is matchups and preparation.

And I'll bet they've thrown the ball less than anybody in the SEC this year. (I have not looked, so I could be wrong, but I doubt it) They are not a good passing team.

Fair enough. How do you think we match up? Do you believe our team has looked prepared this year?

No clue. Haven't really looked in to it.
And we haven't come out with a good gameplan against anyone but UNC, Tenn, and South Carolina.

I'm not totally sold on South Carolina. In fairness, I only remember that we scored on an attempted onside kickoff that we returned all the way. They have a pretty decent defense, but their offense is really, really bad.
Getting back to Arkansas...their QB seems pretty good, and our secondary has not looked good against anybody that can throw the ball. Their OL, from what Litigator has said, is not as good as it has been in the past, but we are so thin on the DL I doubt we could hold up against a bigger OL for 4 quarters.
I have no idea about their defense.
ETA
They have the #2 passer (yards) and the #2 runner. (Again in yards)
We have struggled against top notch LB's and they have one in Brooks Ellis. I don't know all about Arkansas, but what i am seeing does not indicate to me that we match up well.

bump
a defense ranked in the 100's is outplaying ours/
Arky has shown more creativity on offense, in a half, than we have all year.
And they get their TE involved in multiple ways.
Regardless if they even win the game they are light years ahead of us in coaching.

Arky has 100 and change on the ground vs Florida 1st half. Chubb and co. had 21 the whole game. 21

Arky can get off the field on 3rd down. Have 200 yards on the ground.
