Ike was Dwight D Eisenhower's Nick name. If you were in an all white, world controlling, country club where the overthrow of countries was planned and you were playing golf with the attorney who was helping the justice dept cover up the hazards of asbestos, so the Dept of Navy didn't have to billions in cancer claims because they used it in their ships even though they knew it would cause long term harm to the "Heros"' and you hit that corner.... You called it Ike's tree... You are in a country club in Augusta with a sitting President who is from Texas. That is the influence projected there. Eisenhower was the guy who ran the war in Germany , hero of DDay, and the President. Ike is the guy you drink martinis with after walking around for 4 hours whilst colored guys carried your golf bags and you get the ok from him to support operation Ajax to help out your buddy who runs BP.

I saw the title of the thread then I wondered how the hell can a tree get 3 pages?

This board will argue about anything.

I think you're missing the beauty of the story of Ike's Tree.............

Dwight Eisenhower (Ike), a sitting president, and the most powerful man in the world at the time, wanted a pesky tree cut down because he kept hooking his ball into it off 17 tee..................but Masters founder Clifford Roberts told him to frick off, said he was out of order, and that he had no say in it. The tree remained.

And that's where it got it's name.

Ike's Tree is a symbol of freedom. A giant natural monument that says "frick-you" to busy-body politicians.......

I think it tells you that this was not some sort of Country Club spat, but how powerful the people who run that place really are... Ike was West Point ... This is not some sort of Clinton deal... It was showing power. Like making sure we had a good excuse to kill brown people somewhere not near us.
