lets look at the stats from the game for Gunner:

His passer rating was 177.
His QBR was 93.4.

Major improvements from AP game. These stats dont even do the performance justice considering how loud it was, and how much pressure was involved in the moments.

Gunner did a great job for his first road game. Tennessee used their "play on your side of the line" defense in an attempt to intimidate him, and it cost them repeatedly. Hyper-aggressive defenses work against inferior teams, but well coached offenses can take advantage of that strategy.

Like the rest of the team, Gunner has things to work on. Still needs to get the ball out of his hands quicker sometimes, IMO, because other teams will attack him too. But he definitely answered some questions on Saturday.

Biggest thing Gunner can fix is he is cheating on drop backs taking an extra step. Keep 3 steps drops, 3 steps and 5 steps five. It will get the ball out quicker and limit the outside bullrush. He also needs to step up in the pocket not back.

Maybe that extra step gives him a better angle to get the ball over the LOS? He's getting a fair number of tipped balls and knockdowns too.

The half a second sooner actually makes his passes less tippable and our guys blocking on the end can only push and outside rusher so far back, vs UT Stockton got caught by this multiple times. If he had stepped up, he would have been in the clear.

Not to mention he is an effective runner but has to run vertical with his speed.
